I've got a single coil Rm3, and as y'all already know the single coil version has three posts but only one hole in the cap. I never plan on drilling another hole in the cap and using dual coils so my question is... Can anyone think of a reason why I can't take a cut off wheel and remove one of the negative posts? This would make for much easier wicking, IMO.

No reason that I can think of except that maybe ejuice could pool in the bottom if the post is hollow. If not then no. Strangely I just bought a squonker that came with a bottom feeder A6 (which the RM3 is based on) which is single coil with 2 posts. I wonder what the difference in a single coil and dual coil RM3 is outside of the number of airholes in the cap?

The two differences I've found between the single and dual coil versions are: slightly different sized o-rings on the base (the dual coil version has the larger o-rings and so the cap is tighter), and the one air hole in the single cap version is larger than either of the two air holes in the dual version.

ETA: ... and yes, both versions have three posts. I use a (formerly) single coil version to make a dual setup with no problems.

My question is though... Can I remove one of the negative posts sense I will never use it for dual coils?

"Remove" it'd say no for the reason BFR first offered - joose pooling in the deck hole. Cut off I'd say probably yes if it's like my 3 post RM3 is... because... I just removed the screw from a neg post on mine, stuck a piece of Kanthal wire down into it, and the post is only drilled to just below the side coil wire hole. So I'm assuming the post is solid from there down into the deck. I'd suggest you unscrew the post from the deck to check that AND check that the post is drilled from the top the same way I did before cutting it off.

Papa... all the air holes in both my single and dual caps are the same size (3/64), but they do have different o-rings.

Ah, okay. I got 2 single coil versions about 3 months ago by accident when I ordered dual versions. Rob did me a solid and sent replacement dual hole caps as a make good and the holes on my caps are definitely of different diameters. Looks like they've been standardized since. Good to know.

No idea on standardized... I'm thinking my single RM3 is an early one (that was part of a bunch of RM's and parts bought in a lot from the classies); the dual I just got from Rob. I've already drilled the single from 3/64" to 1/16" (but will need to enlarge it even more for my long lung hits).... will drill the dual as well in steps one of these days 'cause I'm pretty sure even two 3/64" holes won't get it done for me. A similar sized dual bf I have came drilled to dual 5/64", and like the first VA Cyclone from SupeX that was already drilled to single 7/64" when I got it, is working fine. ;)
