I got a hold of an RM4 from a very awesome person. (THANK YOU for thinking of me!!!!!) I'm now the proud owner of the RM2, RM3, Odin and now the RM4. As I expected the size of the chamber of the RM4 hits exactly what I have been looking for on the LP Grand.

For those who use the RM4 or close to this size, do you have any tips to get the vapor more wet? I don't know how to describe it other than that. I'm not getting burnt hits at all but a dry vapor if that makes sense. I don't want to open up two may holes to get an airy vape so Im hoping that isn't the answer. I have a single coil .50Ω , 28 ga K A1 build using KGD.

Could it it be I'm using too much cotton? Or cuz I have a single coil build versus dual? It still a great vape, don't get me wrong but just a bit dry. Not trying to be picky but just seeing if this is the way it is on the RM4 or if I can improve it.

ETA- the RM2 and RM3 on my LP Mini both rock! Love those two atties!!!

Hey Angi, personally I think the RM4 really is designed for dual coil builds and can imagine that running a single coil you could get that sort of "vacant" vape if that makes sense. I'd suggest trying a dual coil set up, doesn't have to be fancy, and see how it works for you. The chamber, while smaller than many, is still quite a bit bigger than say the RM2 so more vapor production will help. I use either cotton or KGD and never have problems, wicks really well.

Hope this helps, keep experimenting and see what shakes out.

AngiBe,

The RM4 rarely leaves my LP and I get three or four good pulls before I have to squonk.

I do a 1 ohm build using 26ga kanthal on a 3/32 mandrel (9 wraps) and center the coil on the deck when I build. It gets a decent amount of cotton on the deck. I also notice that the KGD works far better than anything I've use to wick the RM4.

Good luck! The RM4 is my favorite topper for my LP.

It takes me some fiddelin to get the RM4 to hit like it should, but you'll know when you have made the right adjustment.

-centered as much as possible on deck
-in line (vertically) with the airholes - pretty high up
- getting the wicking in a good spot- not touching the top cap, nor blocking the drain hole

Those are the things I always check for when something isnt right, especially with this atty.

I prefer the odin. A lot has to do with the top cap design... Once I opened up the airholes all the way, there was no turning back...with 0.5ohm dual micro coils & KGD... So the 3 piece design kinda got in my way, after that. It was very useful for experimenting though, and it is a perfectly sized atty, and can produce impressive flavor and vapor when tuned just right. I really enjoyed a single 1.3ohm, 2.4mm ID 28g coil, I built in the RM4 before trying duals. I could still use it any day of the week and be satisfied, but the odin is just simpler, IME.

ETA:
Slanted coils works great in this atty, providing an easier way for juice to get wicked up. I prefer horizontal coils though.
What is the ID of your current coil? You may have too many wraps, and juice isn't getting a chance to get all the to the center of your coil...? Try less cotton..

After playing with the air holes more...this thing is vaping like a champ! I like the Odin too, but the larger chamber is just a tad too airy/cold of a vape for me. I love the size of this RM4 and about as big as I can go before it gets to airy I think. I really think this RM4 is awesome.

Gonna try a dual build in it this weekend!!

KKKIIIWWWIII!!!! Of course you'd have the fancy twist coil thingy :glare: I made two mistakes on my first build...my coil was a bit off center (not sure why I did this other than use to the RM2 and was taking the coil to a squonk hole that was there ) and I had a tad too much cotton in it. Oh, and didn't have the AFC hole in a good spot.

Now...loving this thing. If I decide to buy any more RDAs for the Grand, def want the same dimensions or close to the RM4

Just once in a while! Haha

But yeah. Most of these days I run very simple single coils on my smaller RDAs like the rm4, but with larger than usual inner diameter.

But then again I also run my airhole at the largest single hole :)

Hey girl. I don't have a Rob modded RM4, but do have a new Atomic modded to bf. It's first build was a 28ga dual micro's at 1.12 ohm with KGD. Not liking it much for my long lung hits. As you know it's all about flavor to me. I'm guessing I should have used a larger coil form, around .5 ohms dual... maybe twisted. My next build will probably be a dual something for 3mm RxW. It's not high on my priority list right now though. My Nuppin will be delivered today and will get all my attention first so I know whether to order a couple more of them or not. I'm hoping they will be "my" thing for mid footprint sized bf's because I don't want to run 22mm atty's on my Reo's. Otherwise my RM2's, RM3's, VA Cyclones, an IGO-S and some ERA clones modded bf are getting it done just fine for me for both single and dual builds on all my Reo's.

Finally did a dual on the RM4. SO much easier than in the RM3. The RM4 is NOT leaving my Grand. This atty is awesome. Perfect size, warm vape, lots of vapor...I'm a happy, happy gal. Quick question...Im getting some pops (which I get is ok) BUT I actually got a bit of hot juice splash out the air hole and hit me in the face. OUCH LOLOLOL

Is that normal on occasion!? Also, RM2 and RM3 are kickin it on the mini. But...hate swapping them out so may need to get a third REO for Christmas ;)

I get some popping every once in awhile on the RM4, for me I have found out that's when I let i get a little dry and just squonk a little more and it goes away. Downside to this is I have overdone it a few times and had some leaking. Then again I am very new to all of this and still finding the sweet spot.

I get some popping in all my attys, seems mostly on fresh coil/wick.

I got rid of the pops by
- higher resistance (1.2ohm, dual coil 8 wraps, 27ga, 2.5mm diameter)
- very low coil position above deck
- less kgd (half layer despite 2.5mm diameter)
Additionally, I reduced the air holes as Scout showed.
Small enough to feel some resistance, but still large enough to do lung hits.

Tastewise, the RM4 is completely different to my RM2s.
Imo, the RM4 develops a lot of taste with direct lung hits and the settings above.
But I haven't found a setting yet for mouth-to-lung; here the RM2 seems superior.
