I bought four RN 4081's last year. The four batteries lasted several months. The four attys were going strong until I dropped one last month and it died. I converted the dead batteries to pass throughs complete with LED. I like my modified RN4081s because they produces endless vapor, requires very low drag and allow instant direct drip.

I was not able to find a good price on replacement RN4081 batteries so I bought a couple 510 kits for portable e-cig.

510 advantages:

1. 510 Kit available with 2 complete e-cigs (RN4081 used to come with 2 complete e-cigs on ebay).
2. Unmodified 510 seems more consistent with stronger throat hit(wonder if atty will last like RN4081).
3. Drag seems a bit easier but still requires more effort than I like.

RN4081 advantages

1. RN4081 is better weight balanced. Since RN4081 is shorter, it is not as tip heavy.
2. Better for direct drip mod by cutting tip off of cart (plastic cart in mouth not the metal atty).
3. Probably just luck but all my RN4081 parts worked for several months but one 510 batt was DOA.
4. RN4081 Atty produces good vapor if used properly.

I would buy RN4081 again if I could find a good price in the USA.

Well, took the whole business week, but they're finally here!
Here are some crappy shots of the new 4081 double carts.

I hope those show up.

Basically, the old carts are about 1-7/16", the new carts are about 1-3/4" or 5/16" longer.
The juice cups themselves are approximately twice the capacity of the old ones (a little less). Unfortunately, I haven't done much with them, as I've been using 0 nic for a week or so, and the carts I bought were preloaded with medium strength. So basically I'm struggling to puff my way through one, and the added capacity is not as welcomed just now.
In any event, these 'should' make a huge difference for my 'at work' e-cig:)

New here, so hi everyone!

I purchased an SE Gold with 2 batteries at the local mall for an obscene price. I regret that I didn't do my research and find these forums before making the purchase, but the little beast at least has converted me to e-cigs.

I'm finding the stock carts to be extremely inconsistent, but have ordered liquid, so hopefully that will improve (hope it arrives soon, I'm spending a small fortune on carts!)

Everyone's posts here have me encouraged that, though overpriced, I at least may have ended up with a good product. Like others have mentioned, the guys at the Kiosk said they will take care of replacements, so that's a plus.

I have a Joye 510 on order, but I do like the size of the SE Gold. From what I've read here, perhaps I can look forward to it being a good backup for the 510.

Thanks for all the good info!

My 4081 came from a kiosk called Sure Smoke, besides price, the only thing I see wrong is the weak juice they sell for $20, a 10ml bottle w/6.5mg nicotine. Also there's some kind of caulk in the carts to hold in the poly. That being said, dig out the caulk, add some fresh poly & some good juice & they're a vaping machine.

About how many puffs should you expect if dripping with one of these RN4081s and how many drops should you use?

I just bought this thing (NPro) two days ago, and I have some Johnson Creek liquids on order, but they have not arrived yet. I am hoping that dripping will solve some of the "issues" I have with using these electronic cigarettes, and if not I think I will have to order me up a 510 model and see if that helps settle me in.

I just bought a smokingeverywhere e-cig (didn't do any research beforehand but it still seems to be working fine). I read on this forum that it is a 4081. Could you explain about the 40 puffs? When I use mine, it gets hot after about 5 and stops generating vapor. I let it sit for a while and it starts working again. Unfortunately, there's a burned taste to it now and the throat hit is really harsh. Maybe someone could direct me to a thread talking about common mistakes and basic upkeep? I've looked around but I can't find one :(

Yes - You have a 4081 which is interchangeable with a few others, and parts can be bought fairly inexpensive. The number of puffs on a cart is different with every person.

The 4081 seems to run better if kept fairly cool. 5 heavy puffs in a row may heat up the atty. I keep my cart wet, and take two long puffs at a time, then wait a bit between.

I really kick the 4081 attys, only dripping. 2 months and killed 1 atty after the first 3 weeks. Then another one died together with a new battery (remained on, killed the atty and the batt). For the last 5 weeks am using the same atty with a nico box with 14500 batt and USB connector for home. Still have ~15 spare attys. ;) For the price I paid, anything more that 2 weeks in atty life I consider a bonus.
For cleaning I burn the atty to red when on USB, around 5-6 times /week when I feel like cleaning it.

2 drops are around 1 cig for me. Never put more than 2 drops if using the original battery or store bought USB pass through because 3 drops are putting the batts in danger of getting soaked.

I never let the atty cool down, sometimes I vape constantly for 30 minutes (yes, it's always hot).

On nicobox mod I use 3 drops and go through around 4 to 6 ml/day. PG liquid or a maximum of 20% VG mixed in, my attys don't like VG based.

Using just the empty cart that is on the atty by default.

I started with a RN4081 (NPro) and then put it aside after too many struggles getting consistent draws. Instead I bought a 510 w/manual batteries which, in comparison, is fantastic for a solid smoking experience. But I did think that I would like to keep my NPro (RN4081) for dripping since it has such a wide atomizer bridge and I don't want to waste all the money I spent on it.

Well, I finally got my first juice order today from Johnson Creek, and I finally did my first dripping on the RN4081 and I must say it was outstanding. I pulled off the end cap from the cartridge and drilled out the inner hole as well, and the draw is immensely easier now. I used about 3 or 4 drops and the vapor was even better than my 510 generally puts out. And I really like the fact that the vapor output while dripping peters out somewhere around one analogs worth, so I can gauge what I am really doing.

I though my 510 was going to put my RN4081 to rest forever, but now I am not sure what I will choose to use at any given moment, and that is very, very far from being a bad thing.

I like mine. I'm a one-woman man, and may end up being a one e-cig dude. Dunno - all I've really done to "mod" mine is tweeze the carts a little. I found removing the cap and opening up both holes just a little, a tad, has made for a smoother draw. I found a little wad of element inside each of the carts, which I've removed to open the flow. I refill to just under saturation to avoid backwash of juice, and get what seems to be the standard 40 or so puffs per refilled cart. For my needs it works well.
