Hi, first post...had my RN 4081 for 2 weeks, initially very pleased with it but as of yesterday, nothing but trouble! had the 'hair on fire' esmoking experience last night - terrible burnt electrical taste, very off-putting to say the least. I've put 17 carts through it so far - have I burnt out the atomiser already? thought it might be the cleaning cycle but no light came on. Fitted my spare new atomiser and now I'm getting a washing up liquid flavour! not anywhere near as bad but none of the sweet vapour that I got first off...any advice would be appreciated as I'm starting to lose faith...thanks

New atomizers have the factory-fluid in them. Take a tissue, if it's about a penstyle take a corner of the tissue and twist it - then put it into the atomizer against the mesh bridge (if it's a mini-model, just hold the tissue against that bridge that is sticking out). Then get the battery off and blow into the atomizer from the battery-side. Keep doing that (refreshing the tissue as it gets too wet) until the tissue stays (almost) dry.

Now put a few drops of liquid onto the mesh bridge and wait a bit; then start smoking again. Now you will have most of the factory-liquid out; justsmoke on a bit more and the taste of it should start disappearing.

Hope this helps :)

As to the first atomizer: if you smoked it too dry, it could have burnt through (even if it's new): the atomizer-bridge always has to be kept very moist.
And well... every now and then you could just be unlucky with an atomizer too, and see it break early. If you have guarantee for it, contact the seller and see if you can get it replaced. Whatever, if you only have these two atomizers, always get a new one as soon as you have just one left: danger is too big that you might end up with zero, if you don't immediately get a new back-up when your current gets used...

Good to hear, and welcome :)

As for atomizers: I don't do much about them myself, though I am careful not to let them drown. Before putting in a new cartridge, I smoke a bit with just a mouthpiece on (or even without, with a pen) until the smoke gets thin; then the new cartridge goes on. And if I think it's too wet at night-time I will put it away upside down for the night (on a piece of kitchenpaper in a small glass) to let it drain well overnight. But that's about it (apart from washing them when they start to clog, hoping to further it's lifespan some more).
