Any of you modding techies do stuff with home automation?
I want to have a front door intercom that'll connect to my landline. Also want the phone to be able to lock/unlock the door.
I'd be starting from scratch, meaning there's no doorbell, no intercom system, etc. And so, I'd probably have to hire a professional. But I'd like to at least buy the products and supplies myself. And if there's the off-chance that I think I can tackle it, I might. But that also might be a bad idea because I don't understand electricity and I'm not good at completing projects.
There's so many systems out there, all for varying prices. I feel like what I need/want is something very basic in principle, and so having some of the higher-tech systems would be pricey overkills. But I also don't want cheap stuff that'll fail in a year.
Just thought I'd reach out here since I know there's some very talented and intelligent folks, and it makes it easier to be on one forum that I already frequent instead of 10 billion others. But, I can also see how this post can be easily ignored and go into the black hole of unanswered or stupid thread attempts.
