so ive been smoking for 7 years and im ready to move on to something else but after looking through the website i have a few questions. 1st is, is there a version of your product that is white with a tan/brown filter section with a red led, smoking is uch a mental habit and the least amount of changes would be easiest i think. 2nd question is about the menthol flavor is it more similar to a menthol cig or a mint flavor. 3rd and last if there is a product that fits the earliar discription what would i order that would give me that in a total starting package so that i wont be turning around a week later and buying everything else i need?

I'll answer what I can. The white no-logo batteries have a red led.

The color of the cartomizer varies with the flavor.

In my opinion, your best bet would be to call Mark at 773-456-0116. He can ask you some more detailed questions and give you advise that is specific to you.

All of our answers are likely to be more generic.

Hope this helps
Bob

Most of us wanted to look like we were smoking when we started. After all, no one wants to be "different".

Like me, it didn't take long to get over that. Now I don't want anyone to think I'm smoking a cigarette. I have mostly black batteries with the green LED. It isn't the least bit flashy, but when I use it in a restaurant or other places, no one freaks out. That green LED makes most people ask what it is.

Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.

How much do you smoke? I found a formula mentioned in a Nicotine thread in the Health section that seemed to work for me. According to this formula (and the background behind it) you need about 2.5 times the nicotine from an e-cig as from a regular cig, since 60% is lost in the vaporization process. I found a site that indicated that a Marlboro Light has .8mg of nicotine, so if you smoke a pack a day, that's 16mg of nicotine per day. Multiply that by 2.5 and that comes to 40. Most folks seem to go through between 1 and 2 cartomizers per day, each containing a little less than a milligram of juice. So assuming that you smoked a pack a day, it would seem that 24mg cartomizers would be about the right level to start with, according to the formula (each milligram of juice has 24mg nicotine). You may want some lower mg cartos as well in case the 24's are too strong for you. It takes a bit of experimentation to find the right level - I started with 11's and 18's and they weren't quite doing the trick for me (I smoked a pack of Marlboro Mediums a day), and bumped up to 24's. Now after a few weeks I'm feeling like I'm ready to start stepping down. Good luck!

2nd question is about the menthol flavor is it more similar to a menthol cig or a mint flavor.
Menthol tastes to me like a mix between true menthol and mint. There is a separate mint flavor as well. I believe I heard that V4L will be coming out with more menthol flavors soon. For a product more similar to a menthol cig, I would suggest Cowboy Menthol or Nuport. I don't vape tobacco flavors, and rarely menthol, so hopefully someone else out there can give you a better answer.
3rd and last if there is a product that fits the earliar discription what would i order that would give me that in a total starting package so that i wont be turning around a week later and buying everything else i need?
I would suggest the Ultimate Ultimatum kit. I'm pretty sure that if you asked for a no logo KR-808D-1 in white as your battery choice that the fine folks at V4L could make that happen for you. As for everything you'll need for a couple weeks, that's a hard one. Tastes change, you'll find other flavors you like, but I bet that kit would start you out right. That's the kit I started with, but I chose to make another order about a week later, as I really wanted to try more flavors.

also if i curently smoke marlboro lights what would be close in nicotine and flavor?
This is a tricky one to answer as everyone handles nicotine differently and tastes are very subjective. It would also depend on how many cigs you had a day. I would suggest starting with something on the middle to high side, like 18mg or 24mg. As for flavors, try Cowboy, Parlament, or the other tobacco flavors, but don't be afraid to branch out to non-tobacco flavors.

Cowboy Menthol is a lot like a menthol cigarette to me. It even leaves that slight tobacco after taste. I kind of prefer the non tobacco flavors though. I figure the less it taste like tobacco the more I will prefer it over the real thing if the urge ever pops back up (which it has).

Also, you don't necessarily need to plunge head first. The way it worked for me is I ordered my kit and when it came I vaped along side smoking (like every other time I went out I vaped). Then when a pack lasted me 5 days (I used to be a pack a day smoker) I realized that I was vaping a lot more and preferred the vape over the cig. After that pack was gone I was done with them. It was a 2 - 3 week process for me, I know everybody's is different.

ok another random question while im at it, does using these products indoors or in a car cause any smells or residue? ( sorry for so many questions but the answers so far have been awesome)

It depends. The cloud of vapor will tend to have a slight hint of whatever flavor you are vaping but definitely nothing lasting. I'll vape in my house all day long and not be worried that the house was going to stink when people came over like I know it would if I smoked inside.

there's a slight scent to the vapor while actually vaping, but no, no leftover scent, nothing sticks, nothing at all like cigarettes.
The look and colour, etc, I wouldn't worry about too much, sure, go for the white/red led, etc, but the part that matters is sticking something in your mouth, sucking on it, feeling the smoke flow in and hit your throat, the ease of the nicotine absorbing, then blowing the visible 'smoke' back out.
e-cigs aren't exactly like smoking, It's kinda like apples and oranges, but both apples and oranges are fruits :p It's a tad difficult to explain, all I can recommend is to take the plunge, you'll be glad you did - I was terribly skeptical to begin with, but I ended up trying, and was blown away.

the UU kits are nice, as someone previously suggested, but they won't give you enough 'consumable' to last you a week.
The 2 batteries to swap out, charger, etc, will keep you going for months, hardware wise - but you're gonna want to get at least 10 cartomizers, and I'd recommend a bottle of juice (just a 5ml one) so you can try out the refilling. (get juice of same flavour as a 5pack of cartomizers)
You're best to get the UU, add on an extra 5pack of a tobacco type flavour you think you might like, and if you drink coffee, get a pack of the coffee or cappuccino, and a 5ml refill bottle.
Then ask for the guys at V4L (in the comments section of your order) to mix the 5 carts that come with it to give you a mix to try for "a pack and a half a day marlboro light menthol smoker" (or whatever it is) - Somehow the guys always manage to figure out teh perfect combo (lots of practice, I guess) that gives you a sampling that will help you figure out what you do and don't like.

Also, as previously mentioned, I suspect that 24mg will be a good starting spot for you, or thereabouts.

Edit: I forgot to say - Plan on an initial order to get the gear and starter stuff as I mentioned above, and to make a second order about 5 days later, (much smaller - just some flavours, no gear) - that'll arrive just after a week in. You'll probably be able to coast for a week or 3 on that.

Also, If you can handle repeat mail costs, you'll be happier making many small orders than occasional big ones - it'll let you get new stuff more often, etc. (I don't do this, I gotta make every penny count, but I wish I could, like JenJen and others.. (although for all I know JenJen's orders aren't small, just frequent :p)

Every time I make an order, about the same time I get the 'order shipped' email, I remember that 'I forgot X flavour I really wanted', and I've gotta wait a couple of weeks till I can put the next order in :(

yea i would be way to skeptical except i have a friend with a cheap one and it was ok but i could see where most of the things i didnt like about it (it got real hot, and the flavor sucked) were mostly because it was cheap so i really like the idea i just dont want to spend money then never use it but its sounding pretty good especially if i can phase out smoking over a few weeks

It's a process to figure out what flavors you like, and your taste buds will change a bit. I think many folks are surprised to discover what is most satisfying often isn't a tobacco flavor. There are tons of choices out there - I would recommend getting some blank cartomizers and some small bottles of juice in a variety of flavors. Then you can stock up on what you like.

also if i curently smoke marlboro lights what would be close in nicotine and flavor?

My boyfriend smoked Marlboro Lights for about 15 years - his tastebuds say that the Hilton's come closest in flavor followed closely by the Parliaments. But each person has their very own set of tastebuds! Menthols are more like menthol and the mint is minty. All good!

Congrats on your decision to go with V4L - you won't regret it! :)

When I ordered a kit for my dad, I ordered some of the tobacco flavor carts and some of the Red Cow. He thought he would like the tobacco flavors better because he smoked cigars. To his surprise he liked the Red Cow and the Orange Juice sample that V4L threw in better than the tobacco flavors. So, don't be afraid to try the different flavors. You might find something that you like that has no resemblance to tobacco.
