Okay, so I filled a cart poly fill, the same way I've been doing it, used the same liquids I have (which aren't that many), same PT---suddenly I'm getting a decent vape. Still no strong flavor like I was getting b4, but lots of vapor and a decent throat hit with no burn...I'll take 2 ouf 3.
Am I just crazy here or is there something I could be doing differently and just not recognizing it?
(And yes, the Am I just crazy question, could possibly be answered "yes", but I don't think it affects how I'm vaping...)

DeaninSJ... I have a 'theory' and NO you're definitely not crazy!!!!!
"This" (what you described above & previously) happens when I vape too long and too frequently. I've found that when I more closely 'monitor' my vaping the 'better' the flavor and throat hit. Now I admit, every now & then I go into 'brain fart' mode and overfill my carts, flood my attys, that, or vape 'em too dry.... the whole nine yards due to this eCig learning curve we all continually attempt to master... but all in all, I've found the flavor & Throat hit (along with overall satisfaction) comes back on the 'days' I vape less frequently. I've also found 'dripping' to be more consistent than the carts, but I do both based on my situation at the moment.. dripping mostly at home. I use my eGo most of the time and then for long trips and when I travel, but when I'm at home on the 'puter (like now) or want to have a particularly LLLLLLLLLOOONG vaping session at home in front of the TV, I use a KR808D-1 PT with a 5 volt usb adaptor. This works for me most of the time.. (lol). Try to limit your vaping to ten minutes and space 'em out an hour or so apart.. and tell me if this helps or not.:D

I hope this helps.... :)

I'd love to hear other people's "theories" on this also..... ;)

Blonde! My very "first" here on ECF! And once again, a voice of reason.
I think I may be hitting it too hard. In my zeal to master this, I failed to recognize why I wanted to do it in the first place. While I have def cut costs, it occupies way more "importance" in my life than analogs ever did.
I like the social aspect of the forum, met some great peeps here...more generous than I imagined with time etc. But that doesn't mean I have to try every mod or lust after every upgrade.
So I'm going to ease it up a little, and, although I admit to being resistant to it, will drip more.
I got three new liquids today to start fresh with: Juicy Fruit, Dr. Pepper and Grapefruit. Nice way to start the weekend. (Only one more juice order due in and then I am done ordering for a while...basically cause all the money allotted for vaping is now gone.)
Thanks, all
Dean

This happens to me all the time. What works for me is to take the attys and carts and give them a good soak and cleaning. I then put clean or new filler in the carts, make sure the attys are blown out well, everything is dry and the end of the protected battery is clean and dry. I do a dry burn to get the gunk off and then refill cart and go. Usually works and yes, it is some work but so worth it. I try to do the routine at least once a week but sometimes have to do it more often.

I agree with the others about your taste buds needing a break from certain flavors, change it up.

Cartomizers got me through a similar bump. I still use 510's and they have their place (their performance is outstanding), but they were a hassle. When I wanted a smoke, I wanted no hassle satisfaction. Cartomizers allowed that. They've been my primary atty for almost a month now and I'm still satisfied. I think it's partly because I can cost effectively vape on a new atty regularly (every few days), which makes a huge difference regardless of atty style, and partly because of how long they last before needing a refill. I have a tendency to try to get the most life out of my attys and don't to realize how bad an old go-to atty has gotten until I've tried a new one. Definitely try other atomizer styles if you haven't already...they all (or most) have their ups and downs and are better or worse for different situations.

To use a crappy analogy, 808's are my cigarette when I get a craving and 510's are my cigar when I'm chilling at home.

A couple things I've learned for anyone reading this thread due to similar problems as the OP. Note: All of my experience is with the 510 and 901

    1. Don't play too much with the filler material. Make sure it is about a millimeter or two inset into the cart. The most I'll ever do is pull it out, gently rinse, gently blot with paper towel and place right back in the cart keeping its original form and shape intact. Proper wicking is so important!

    2. I've have had little luck with complex atty cleaning techniques. The easiest and best so far has been to rinse the atty under hot tap water for about a minute or so with water flowing through both ends of the atty. Blow out the water and old juice and repeat the rinse. Blow out any remaining water and then heat up the atty for about 5 seconds to dry the water out. Do not heat the atty up more then twice without e-liquid or you risk damaging it! After doing the "drying," prime the atty with a couple drops of juice and get back to vaping.

    3. Flooding or clogging of old juice is usually the reason for poor vapor production (assuming your battery is fully charged of course).

    Hope this helps someone.

Well, I followed a lot of your suggestions, everyone.
I blew out all attys, I rinsed out all carts.
I refilled all my carts with tea bag. (I think I may have gotten hold of some bad poly fill)
I am taking it easier on the devices. After all, I did this to temporarily replace smoking not to do it more than I was smoking.
I got some new liquids in the mail today and filled my carts with the new juices.
Results are good- Been vaping again- no hot throat and flavor is getting better.
You guys got me through. Thanks for that!
