Rookie vaper with an 808. Should I get a tank or save up for a real set up?

There's no such thing as a "real setup". There's only setups that work for you and those that don't.
If you're happy with what you have, don't go looking for something better. You'll likely just end up throwing away money.

If you're not happy with something, post what you're not happy with and someone will likely be able to advise you on how to address it.

For example, you said you're worried about running cartos dry and are always refilling them. In that case, a tank or a clearomizer would be a good idea so you can see how much juice you have. But there are potential downsides with them as well such as thickening juice, leakage, difficult refills, cracking, poor wicking etc.

If you just want to test out options, I'd go with one of the lavatubes (Mvari, Knight Rider, etc). They'll let you try different carts, clearomizers & attys at many different voltages so you can figure out what you like best and you can find them pretty easily for $50-70 with everything you need to get started. Once you dial in what you like, you can likely find a setup that specializes in delivering exactly what you want from a PV.

I was looking at geting a tank because I'm so paranoid about a carto running out, I'm always topping it off. But I probably should the way I been vaping, I got one on the charger and one going all the time. I'm thinking it's the Kgo, I didn't hear any votes for the Ego cause of the 650 mAh I assume. I'll likely go with what I got till the 1st of the month hey, 1st of the month!

The bigger issue with the eGo is it is only 3.4 volts!!! The Kgo, E-Power, etc are 3.7 volts to go along with 1000+ mAh batteries.

Not a bad idea other than recommending the lavatube. I can't recommend any model that limits what you can vape on it like the lavatube does. For a similar in price variable volt I would get an EVO, instead. It does not limit what you can use with it such as dual coil cartomizers but the lavatube does.

On the tank vs cartomizer issue and running out of liquid, you can buy clear cartomizers so you can see how much liquid is left in the cartomizer.
