Hi. Just wanted to make an intro. I started vapin 2 weeks ago in order to quit smoking -- 30 yrs. I never vaped before. I started w/ the joytech e-go and a kanger tank --- not good enough so I went mechanical. Couple of days later I got a nemesis clone mod and kayfun tank -- much better. Then I got a patriot clone so I can do the big vapor cloud --- I'm really digging it. Of course, I paid triple the cost for the hardware at the vapor store but that's cool because I didn't have the slightest what I was doing. I have not smoked in 12 days and I pray that I never smoke again !! Thank you for having me on this board which looks very informative. I look forward to learning as much as I can and making a positive contribution as best I can. That said, there is a lot of tinkering with this stuff and I have lot's of rookie questions --- like can anyone point in the direction of a post or link on how to change the cotton in the dripper :)

Have a great memorial day weekend !!!

Wow switching from pt to rba to rda and from ego to mech only took you 12 days, for most of us it took months.

By you question about how to change cotton i'm guessing you got you rda with a pre-built coil at the vape store, but don't know what to do with it next, well replacing the wick if fine for a while but what you really need to learn is how to rebuild your coils.

I suggest you go to a local store that deals with mechanical mods to show you in person, but I'll tell you what I can.

Every coil build has a level of resistance, measured in ohms. The lower the resistance, the more amperage is being pushed through your coil at once, resulting in a higher drain on your battery. Each battery is rated to a level of amps it can release, and if your coil's ohm level causes the amperage to exceed the safe amount on your batter, it can cause the battery to fail and in some instances, melt or explode. I don't want to scare you, I just want you to know what you're dealing with. All the Sony VTC batteries have a 30 amp limit, which is plenty for any coil down to .15 ohms. The purple Efest and yellow AWT are also good choices. Also, get an ohm reader for when it comes time to rebuild your coils. A shop can help you learn, but the ohm reader is a must.

Rewicking cotton is easy. Just grab it with tweezers and pull it out through the coil. Boil some cotton (preferably organic) and roll it with your fingers into a wick, and slide it back into the coil. You want it snug, but not too tight. Juice it up and burn some off by blowing on your rda to get rid of the cotton flavor that comes with rewicking. Ideally, rewick your cotton every 3-4 days.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. :vapor:
