I guess it happens to us all at one point or another....

I thought I was doing great as far as vaping was going. Tonight was a rocky road to be sure....rocky, indeed.

I was bowling on leagues tonight, drinking beers, having a good time. I go outside for a vape break, get a few good hits....... (blink blink blink)
My battery goes dead....8-o

I love smoking while I drink, and 24mg vaping really helped keep everything smooth until that nasty little light let me know I was sheet out of luck. Unfortunately I did not have a spare battery with me :grr:

I swear I tried to hold out, but I just couldn't do it. I tried, I even started chewing on a coffee straw, it just didn't matter

I ended up bumming an analag menthol from a buddy. I feel like total garbage right now.

Here I am.... 10+ days in analog free and I felt like I was on an island with nowhere to go. I was so ...... with myself, I almost feel like I failed a test, which in a way I did...

I did have a thought though. I drove to the gas station to get a lighter so I could smoke on the way home, I kept an emergency pack in my door for that "just in case"... Well... Thanks to some users input here I remembered, "Don't get yourself down, you can always try some SNUS to get through those tough spots.". I pulled up into the gas station and saw a Camel sign, "Frosted SNUS". So I ran in and grabbed a lighter, and I told the clerk that I would like a tin of frosted SNUS please. They were out, but they did have "Mellow Camel SNUS" instead, so I bit.
I tossed a packed in my lip and drove all the way him with it....

All I can say is...WOW.... It really did the trick until I got home. I didn't smoke another analog and it allowed me to get home and start charging the battery. I IMMEDIATELY picked up my pass through and starting vaping, oh there is a glorious god afterall!!!

On a second note to that. My package of flavors was on the counter too!!! HOLY GREATNESS!!!! 8 new flavors to vape!! (and a lesson learned in bringing a spare battery!) Vanilla, Cappuccino, Menthol, Clove, Tobacco, another of my faves, Mocha Mint Coffee, and some populars, Waffles, and French Toast. AWESOME! :w00t:

I'm bummed that I smoked an analog tonight, but it's a lesson to everyone. Be prepared. And the second is. Listen to the ECF community. I never dipped or chewed, but this SNUS really helps in a pinch, and swallowing it isn't bad. It comes in a wee packet and the flavor is alright.

I've decided that the SNUS package will remain in my jacket pocket for those just in case nights.

This isn't easy to share, honestly. I don't know why, but I feel ashamed to say this here, but I smoked. I know it happens, but god... to say I feel dirty for smoking is ...I don't know. Kind of funny in a way. After Vaping for over a week and then having a fallout, it's like being dirty and trying to hide it.

Thank you ECF for your knowledge. Even though I slipped up, I used what I have learned to help correct my night and avoid having a further mishap.

Thank you, and I promise to contiunue to try hard!!!,
Don

So you just call that 10 days and a boo boo. Don't beat yourself up over it. Tomorrow makes it 11 and 2 boo boos. I tried one after I quit but didn't like it so I threw it, but that was it we're all human and we all make mistakes. But you have to delete the negative and accentuate the positive. Positive is you learned it can happen. Have a good one and be nice to yourself, your worth it.

I made some juice out of some old snus I had last night and its not too bad, don't know how much nic is in it though. Figured I would give it a try, plus I used the tin to make a case to carry my extra batteries and juice bottle.

Don't worry about slipping I end up doing it every weekend, I figure that one pack is better than the carton I used to smoke a week. I only end up smoking because I hate trying to explain the 510 100 times a night to drunks.

Again, don't be too hard on yourself. You are doing absolutely great! Everything is a lesson and now you will never forget an extra battery..........................move forward to your 11th day and don't think of that one analog as a failure. It is not! You should be extremely proud of yourself as you have come a long way! Happy Vaping!

Don - thanks for sharing :) In perspective though, you had 1 cigarette instead of 200? 250? 400? the last ten days? And, what I really commend you on - you got some snus and used those instead of lighting up another...after a few beers. I'm drinking right now and think if my PV system all went went to heck somehow I'd probably end up at the gas station grabbing a pack. Anyway, you're doing great - just keep vaping :) Oh, and I'm glad your story took a turn for the happy with all the new flavors to try!

We aren't anti - smokin' nazis here fella. You slipped up, no biggie, you probably enjoy smoking just not cigs, or like the hit you get from a cig but prefer something OTHER than a cig - when you can get it. And you couldn't get it that ONE time. You shouldn't feel bad - in fact - I demand you STOP feeling bad right now!
You might slip up again - I wouldn't worry about it, ya didn't smoke a whole pack now did ya? :D

Drummel, please don't beat yourself up! Look what you did! You came here and posted about it!! You said it out loud... you were honest about how it made you feel and you moved on!! WTG!!!

You are awesome - seriously!! You should be proud of yourself! Not smoking is obviously very important to you. Sometimes, the only way we learn to move forward is by slipping back a little. It allows us the chance to gain the perspective, the knowledge and the tools we need to keep moving forward.

I'll bet you were SO happy to see that package when you got home!! A big reward for doing so well. You didn't fall back into the grip of the cigarette, you figured out how to avoid it completely moving forward.

I say - WTG!!! And thank you for sharing your experience because if one person reads it and remembers to cover the bases, just in case... it's because you shared your story!!

Well done!! Good job... and - vape on!! (all those flavors sound amazing - :) )

I've slept on it and come back to read everyone's shared thoughts.

Each of you is right, ya know?

I've read a few slip stories m'self, I guess I just never prepared myself for the occasion that it might just happen to me one day.

You're all a bunch of wonderful people. I don't think I could replace this with any better form of support. It's great to know there is a place to come and share, good or bad, and leave feeling better each time.

Thank you everyone, you've helped make my day. And It's on to another fresh day!

Yep, good reminder to be prepared. One slip doesn't mean failure, when I tried to quit with patches/gum/wellbuterin I slipped a lot. Not once so far vaping (except some SNUS one afternoon in a no-break training session).

When I go in for 12 hour shifts I routinely take a fully charged Tornado and spare battery plus a nicostick and two 6ml bottles of juice along with spare atty's and carts. Now I have a V4L with PCC that I will take with three or four filled carts as well. That way I can have flavor options as well as insurance against dead batteries.

Hang in there and keep at it!

I smoked a half a cigarette on saturday night. Didn't need it, but I just wanted to see how it would taste. Blech. Couldn't even finish half. My friends, who knew me as a hard core 2 pack a day smoker for years could not believe it.

Don't worry about it! Given the choice between analogs and vaping you chose the vape, and that's all that really matters. Best of luck!
