Wanted to post this in the smokeless tobacco forum, but I'm a noob so I can only post here. :) Really wanted to say thank you for maintaining and posting so much helpful info to this forum. I bought a couple e-cigs a week ago, and had been using them to replace analogs. Seemed to be going okay for a little while, but by my third/fourth day I started to get the blues and the e-cigs weren't quite doing it for me. I've read through a TON of the threads on here so far, and discovered that my problem is most likely a lack of MAOIs and/or other alkaloids not present in straight nicotine.

Based on Tropical Bob's (the nicotine rock star) many posts about snus, I finally picked up some Swedish snus at a nice liquor store (Vendome Liquors in Beverly Hills for any Los Angeles folk). Had tried Camel snus first since it's available across the street from me at 7-11, but I didn't quite take to it (such a shame that America's introduction to snus has to come from Camel/Marlboro - not even in the same league as Swedish snus). Stuck a portion in my mouth on the drive home from the liquor store, and basically had one of the best nicotine/tobacco buzzes I've ever had in my life. The stuff rocks.

I've never considered chew/dip/snuff before at all. Just never been around people who use it and have always associated oral tobacco products with cowboys and way too much spitting. Snus is nothing like that, and it took away any craving I had for an analog cig. Cigarettes are more of a way for me to self-medicate than a pleasurable habit, so snus is turning out to be a fantastic delivery system for getting what I need.

I'm going to continue w/ the e-cigs, too. My roommate smokes and it's nice to have an e-cig when we head out for a smoke break. I realized two days ago that the e-cig was giving me a significant headache and I could feel a bit of pressure in my chest after vaping a few times throughout the day. Compared to some other members on this site I'm a pretty light e-cig user, so I'm not sure if those symptoms were due to the glycerol component of the liquid nicotine, or the nicotine itself. I can smoke 15 analog cigs on a Friday night and feel fine, so I'm surprised that the vapor could be delivering such a significantly higher quantity of nicotine to my system, especially after reading that the absorption rate of e-cig vapor is probably much lower than initially thought. Having read through so many different e-cig experiences on this site, I know that everyone is different and that has just been my personal experience to date - I might just be super sensitive to the vapor nicotine delivery method. Going to keep vaping from time to time when not snus-ing and see how it goes.

So, a big thank you to everyone here. I've been lurking and obsessively reading on some other e-cig forums as well this past week, and this one has had the best and most useful information and friendliest users by far. I may not become a major vaper after all, but the info on this site led me to snus, and what I think is my best alternative to analogs. :)

Thanks. Yeah, honestly, if I could buy stock in this forum I would do it. It's amazing - this site has such awesome solutions to quitting smoking and yet e-cigs (and snus) are pretty much an underground phenomenon. I wish I had found this website a long, long time ago. I've already told at least 4 friends who smoke about this stuff and I've only been familiar w/ the scene for seven days!
