Thanks for the kind words tearose50. I never understood this high watt, sub-ohm craze, who can vape all day at high watts. I just want to stop smoking for good this time. Before e-cig equipment was so bad and frustrating I started smoking again. Now with hardware advances I can get an easy draw in a 2-3 second hit with a decent cloud with flavor. My goal is a thick, cool vape, which I achieved with my istick rig. It just needs swappable batteries.

Of course I DIY juice, don't you? It costs me 4 cents a ml. I don't see how some people pay 70+ cents a ml at retail. Plus I know what is actually in it since I only use factory seal USP products.

I tried the PWM mode on the IPV mini and still can't dial in a thick cool vape. The IPV mini is going in the trash or I may move/add the istick controller to it.

I will do the battery modification to the istick since I like the way this mod hits, plus it's small size and shape. I wish you could try my rig, you would be chasing the same goal as I. A draw that is thick (feels creamy) and cool, zero visibility of objects in the cloud direction on exhale, all with a 2-3 second draw. My addy as been modified with copper electrical traces from mod to coil, it hits so much better than OEM.

I did an oscilloscope reading on the istick; set 3 volts, reading 2.75 volts.

Why thank you Mavrik.

Sure glad to hear that you are making a go at switching to vaping for good this time and that the adorable iStick and your topper of choice is working for you. And, you have the ability to mod -- that sure will keep it interesting!

This long time vaper is quite pleased with things some like to call "newbie" toppers and devices and now after much trial and error and testing of all sorts of thing really know I prefer "plug and play" for my vaping style. I'm all for the KISS (keep it simple) method. :)

If you get yourself verified, you can sell the gear you don't want in the Classified section. That mod is so new, I'm sure you could make someone quite happy with a good deal.

Just in case you haven't seen it, Katdarling and some others are putting together an ongoing spreadsheet with all the "iddy biddy mods under $100 that are coming on the market. The list just keeps growing and growing. Here's a link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/variable-voltage-apv-discussion/640761-little-itty-bitty-mods-under-100-a.html#post14989275

Happy vaping. :)

I'm very confused...
Why exactly do you need something like the istick with a removable battery when vaping at 3V?
You will get approximately 879 5second drags off of a full Istick battery woth those settings.. srsly confused @_@ charge it overnight?? I feel like that battery should last you nearly 3 full days till you need to charge it again.

The draw count isn't that high, it's more in the useful wattage range of 400. You can't calculate hits based on voltage alone, it's a wattage thing. I need a swappable battery on the istick because I need two charges a day. Plus I have a small army of 18650 cells I would like to utilize. Also rechargeable do not last forever, but electronics will last for decades if cooled properly. The manufacture designs this way so you buy a new istick instead of a battery, more money for them.

The ohms of the coil is more of a speed thing, lower the ohms the faster it heats up. I use 1.5 ohm and 3v based on my draw time so I control the amperage. I use copper to get the true amperage to the coil. The combination gives me the vape cloud, taste and temperature I desire.

It's pretty common for me to modify manufacture products. My largest pet peeve in the vape field is little copper use in hardware. Stainless steel is resistive and brass is resistive compared to copper, silver is the best conductor. Cloud chasers (actually everyone) would benefit if they concentrated on their hardware instead of their coils and batteries. Copper for me means a cooler thick vape.
