Warning this post could be confusing (it is to me - lol). Had my RS (maxi) for a couple months now. When I first got the device the switch worked pretty good. After the initial switch cleaning (after a few weeks) I could not get the spring to re-align correctly. Removed the spring and soldered a wire in place of it. So that is my setup for now.

Now here is the real issue. My RS will no longer let me use 6v configurations. I have tried the batts that came with it and others and I can not get the darn thing to fire. Now here's the kicker. 18650's work perfect. Not one single problem using those at all. I am just mind-boggled at why it will work perfect with the 18650 and not the batts that came with the device. The batts are definately good (3 sets). Any ideas?

I have even tried a switch out of my Little Sister. Again worked great for 18650 but nothing with the other config. Could it be the switch(s) can not handle the amps from the 6v batts?

One other thing. On occasion (rare) the thing will fire with the 6v config and work for while. I have no idea.

could be a switch and arcing has caused some bad contacts. It'd be easier to test under a load to see if the protection on one of the batts is kicking off. When i get one that doesn't fire, I press the button firmly and rock it side to side to see if it makes a difference, if not then I have the switch replaced. You can send it back to us to test it out for you also.

Thanks hoog. I never really thought about a short, but I will re-check my soldering to make sure nothing is shorting out.

It just pisses me off cause the wife keeps shaking her $30 VV box mod at me (bought from MV's) saying "you should have got one of these" lol. I admit I am pretty rough on ecigs, and while I like the LS and the vv box mods I don't think they would last a day with me.

If I don't find anything I will just order a replacement switch. Thanks for the reply!

Checked it with the ohm meter, no dead shorts. While i was at it I loaded up the 6v batts and tested the voltage at the atomizer connection and it shows 7.69v. I can put a carto or atty on it and notta, nothing. Took out the 6v batts and put in the 18650 voltage measures 3.95 with same carto works perfect (not enough hit for me though). It is the oddest thing.

Keep in mind I am just testing here (don't need the nuclear meltdown warnings lol). But, I tried 16340 and 14500 stacked and the darn thing fires perfect. Guess I might have a couple bad batts (they test ok though).

On a side note, love the new site design hoog! Makes me want to buy something lol.

Batts can perform great one at a time but may not fire stacked if they are not discharging at same rate.

i have the same issue. Order some Li-Mh batterys.

They dont have a protection circuit... But instead use 'safe chemistry'.

Waiting for mine to get here

Thanks dragit, I really do think it's the protected batts causing the problem. I will look into ordering some Li-Mh battery's. Do they require a different charger?

Funny, when my Roughstack switch stopped working my husband was shaking his $20 box mod at me too. My box mod eventually stopped working but it lasted almost two years.
