First of all you shouldnt be trying to fire coils that havent been tested with a ohm meter.
That out of the way. Its probably what disco said. Or your wick could not be oxidized enough, it does look kinda shiny in some areas.

What gauge is your wire? I also suspect you are below the 1.4 ohms or so that the eGo Twist will fire. Does the button flash a few times when you first try it? You can also buy a cheap DMM from eBay or Amazon. I paid about $10 for mine and it works well enough for this use.

Never build a coil and try using it without knowing the EXACT resistance
Never try using a low ohm coil on a tiny EGO style Battery - 1.8ohm is about it
Never try powering a Mesh wick coil on an EGO - any short can kill the battery
You should at Minimum have a multimeter to check ohms and a cheap mech mod to pulse the coils in preparation for use as well as a decent power mod for use.
Please put the RSST in a safe place until you have everything and can do this safely.

order some 28 Gauge Kanthal A1 wire and do a 1.4 ohm wrap for the Vamo. Probably a 5/6 wrap. Even then, the Vamo may show short during the pulse process. If so, twist the wick back and forth and read resistance/pulse again until it holds steady. Then add liquid and give it a try.

I prefer an Audi R8 motor myself. I would say the eGo is more like a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower.
