Greetings from Arkansas...

After having success with an AGA-T2 and a SS wick...I was really excited. I love the way that AGA vapes and I really like the SS wick. I just received an RSST and had it up and running within about 45 mins.

I am finding that the draw is very very tight. Even though it produces a lot of vapor with the cap off...when I try to take a hit, I barely get any production. It seem to me that the air hole is too small. Maybe I am wrong.

I need some advice on how to drill out the air hole. I have been searching this forum for the last hour and I have read where some have had success by enlarging the hole. I have also read where others say that this creates an airy draw. I will say that I really like the draw on the Kanger ProTank (some say it is too airy for them), so I am assuming I wouldn't mind a more airy draw that the enlarging of the air hole might produce.

I need some advice on how to do this. How large of hole should I produce? What tools do I need (drill press?) Will a dremel work? I would really appreciate some advice. I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I am resourceful and a quick learner!

As usual...thanks very much in advance!

OMG>>>>>>>>>OMG DONT DO IT!!!!

ok freaked out now?

just kidding lol

A dremel with a drillbit will work fine, the best thing to do is go up slowly a tiny bit at a time a small change in size can have drastic effects. so what i usually do if i want to drill an atty is open it up just a touch and vape for a while, if I still dont like it i open it up a little more. problem is finding a full set of precision bits to use if you dont want to buy a set. (got mine at harbor freight)

the idea is even if you like an open airy draw there is no way to go back once you drill it open so its better to go slow first. other then that be careful and no drill bits in the fingers please. I open all mine to the 1.2 to 1.4mm range I believe a protank would be like a 2mm hole.

LOL...you had me going for a second or two! I am a sucker.

Thanks for the advice...I will look into some precision bits tomorrow. Do you happen to remember how much you paid at Harbor freight? Also, was it hard to hold the RSST while drilling? Do I need to secure the tank somehow...if so, how do you suggest doing that? Thanks for your advice!

Is there any way to fix it if the hole is too big? The one I have was previously owned and he drilled it out. I was thinking of using this stuff I have for jewelry (crystal epoxy) and plugging the hole completely and drilling a smaller one. Anyone have success doing something like this? I really don't want to buy another one just because of this

I'd suggest putting some scotch tape over the hole and poking some holes in the tape with a pin until you get an idea of how much air flow you want. I think I've read some posts where the epoxy that's used for aquariums was used to plug holes. Since it's for jewelry, I'd think your crystal epoxy would be ok as well. I'd do a google search just to see if any good info popped up.

I just drilled mine last night for the third time. Every time it gets drilled out, it feels like I just picked up a new atty, loving it.

Hope no one minds me bumping this thread. I have an RSST on the way and I'm undecided as to what size I want to drill out the air hole. Palmmute, what size did you drill it out?

I'm leaning towards 2mm. Has anyone done this with they're RSST? and can you tell me what your experience was like?

I would take Thrashers advice and gradually move up in size but I do not own a drill/drill bits and my local vape shop has a drill press.

Thnx

Yeah... so a not-so-funny but ironic story. I ended up buying a new top cap (Kidney Puncher website) for the RSST because even though I was able to patch the hole with that JD welding stuff, I couldn't find a drill bit small enough to drill the new hole. So I get the new top today and bought a butane torch so I could make a new setup using this mesh rope I bought weeks ago (was holding out on using it until I got the top cap situation resolved) Well... in the little drawer thing I keep my supplies in, guess what was missing? The mesh rope. So I start tearing apart everything trying to find that. Eventually I said eff it and decided to just clean off my mesh and change the flavor in the tank... Well guess what? I can no longer find the base of my RSST. It literally disappeared!! I have no friggin clue where it went!! So mad, you don't even know.
Anyway... if you want to just buy a new top cap, Kidney Puncher has them for 7 or 8 bucks. The JD Welding stuff does work but I'd rather just have a new top. (wish I would have known about it in the first place)

I have my RSST drilled out to 2mm and it fits my vaping style nicely as I mainly do lung inhales with a nano coil. When doing normal (mouth to lung) drags, it feels a little too airy with the RSST's large top cap. Hope that helps :)
