Just wanted to post some FYI.

My RSST used to leak down the center post. I would also find liquid between the bottom of the tank and the metal base cover.

To fix this, I took the top rubber piece from a carto and cut it (I used a leather punch, actually) to get the small piece shown in the photo. You'll only need one of these... I just happened to have two of them when I took the photo.

You'll need to disassemble the tank. What you want to do is place the screw through the top plate as usual, and slide the rubber piece onto the shank of the screw so it sits up against the bottom of the top plate (or against the top delrin spacer). Now install the inside center post and ascertain that the rubber piece (pointy end) goes into the post. Ideally, you want your rubber piece to be just slightly larger in diameter than the inside of the post so that when you screw in the post, you get some compression around the screw shank. Finish assembling the tank and... no more leaks.

I've heard that some people don't get very much leaking, but mine leaked like a sieve, so for me this worked great!

been doing this with small o-rings :2cool:
I take it a step further, and add some vaseline to the o-rings for extra security.

Yah, I figured some people might be using o-rings, but since I had old carto rubber thingys sitting around, I used them for this. With the pointy end going into the post hole and with compression, there's absolutely no liquid going down my post now. I'm very happy!

If I can dig up an old carto I think I'll have to try this. Gets old having to wipe off the 510 contact every time I change my battery.
I save all kinds of rubber seals and stuff from my gear. In fact, I tend strip old stuff just to get the seals. Yah, I know what you mean having to clean off the contacts all the time. What a pain it was! You're gonna love this!
