The other day I was experiencing a decline in performance on my rsst tank. I have it on a k100 with sonyvtc4 battery. I took it to local shop and asked what was wrong. The guy hooked it up to black ohm reader box and he said the tank shorted out. When I checked the resistance with my multimeter it read .7 which was the same resistance of original build. They told me I would need to buy a new tank. My question is, has this happened to anyone before? And what could have caused the tank to short? I don't want to continue ruining my tanks.

Thanks!

Before you give up on it. I don't have an RSST but if it's like the rest you can take it apart. See if the grommets/spacers are intact on the center pin and look for lose wire chips inside it or a lead you left on it shorting it out. Don't know the shop so I don't know the level of expertise there. Unless you know the shop assume they want to sell you a new atty. and my fudge a bit. FYI some shops will fix things for the price of parts also. If you have any pics of it that may help. I have to answer your question had spacer/insulators go bad. You may have spares in the box you got it in.

Do not buy a new one. It sounds like someone was trying to make a bit of cash off you.

A reduction in performance could have been caused by something as simple as being knocked over. I would take everything apart like steved suggested, look for worn insulators (replace anything that looks torn or worn) and install a new wick and coil. Do a quick google search for RSST spare parts, and you'll find what you need if you don't already have. (First result should be Hoosier Vapes, they are a very reputable company)
