RSST won't thread onto Provari

I'm having selective threading issues with my RSST. It screws down onto my CCTS and my Vamo just fine, but it will only go about two turns on the Provari and then it just stops. I tried using a 510-510 adapter, got it about half-way on, then had to get out the pliers to get it back off. I got the RSST from a vendor offering a "great deal," which in hindsight, I think is vendor code for "irregular batch." I wasn't planning to use it on the Provari, but still ... Before I get another one (cuz I love it otherwise), I just wanted to try and confirm that this is a QC issue and see if it's widespread or peculiar to the batch from this vendor. Anyone else having similar problems?

I don't have one but you could purchase a die to rethread the external threads on the RSST. Round dies are usually adjustable & you wouldn't need any special tools other than maybe a die holder to clean up the threads. You could probably just use the die by hand assuming the threads aren't that far off spec.

Apparently, there was a QC issue with some of the recent RSSTs. Some of the vendors who sold them have pulled them from their stock, and are offering replacements. I'd contact the vendor. Otherwise, you could purchase a die, and try re threading. Yhe correct size for the die is 7mm x .5

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I may have to give this a try just out of curiosity. It could prove to be infinitely useful. This is kinda funny - in my tobacco days, I typically used the heel of a shoe for a hammer and a butter knife for a screwdriver and would not even have considered a project that more sophisticated tools than that. Since I started vaping, I have acquired not only a regular hammer and a set of screwdrivers, but also a dremel and a soldering iron, and I find myself browsing Harbor Freight almost weekly. What I'd really like is a drill press, but, you know, baby steps ...

My RSST had no issues threading onto any of my mods, or my friends ProVari.... isolated issue?

Apparently it's not isolated. DV, and some of the other suppliers have addressed it. DV pulled their stock from their site, and is replacing defective ones. Other suppliers are doing so as well.

hooiser vapes also apparently checked thier stock to make sure they weren't defective:

We checked our stock and they do thread probably on mods we have here.

Not isolated.. Just got my second one about a week ago.. luckily.. got it from my preferred B&M.. took it back and went thru almost his entire inventory before we found one that screwed down correctly on my PV,..or EA...or Legacy.. He boxed up 14 to send back for credits... I imagine he is not the only one.. The 1st one I got was perfect.. This new one also leaks.. China...cheap..look good, performance/vape.. good .. build quality..meh:facepalm:

No dude - My RSST is the same. Won't thread on my Provari or my Bolt

EDIT - But I screwed the + post down (losing wick height) to get the connection into my battery. Doesn't look right (because of the gap between my PV and the RSST), but at least it works.

Im having same problem,i just picked up a RSST for my Smoke Teley and it wont go in,im thinking of re-tapping the RSST threads, looks like the treading is not deep enuff.

You might check with your vendor first - unless you already have the tools or just want to give it a go. My vendor (Exhale Vapor) replaced the base unit free of charge, and I think a lot of others did/will as well.

I contacted them and they say no go,they dont have warranties on certain parts like atomizers and tanks, surprised the hell otta me as ive never had a issue with this vendor,i also dropped about 500 bucks in the last 6 months,no worries tho,ive just retapp the tank with a 7mm x .50 tool,i really cant complain tho as they have REALLY good prices and i did get a few freebies in the past, its all good.
