I don't understand what you mean by "appears to get hot but doesn't glow," though I'm guessing you're referring to the second coil. Make sure your screws are all tightened well, and check again after pulsing since certain designs can come loose. I'm assuming, possibly incorrectly, that you know the basics of what you need to be doing when rebuilding, so I'm blowing past a number of very basic steps/advice. Once you've got your coils installed and glowing to some extent, strumming the coils (running your [ceramic] tweezers gently across them) like you would a harp string can help synchronize them. If one coil is not heating up at all, then you've probably got a connection issue. If strumming and pinching and pulsing doesn't eventually fix it, you've probably got a connection issue. Certain wire types-- twisted, claptons, really almost anything that uses more than one stand-- can have issues wherein one of the wires is fully connected, but the other(s) are not.

If it's heating up but not evenly, try strumming. If one is not heating at all, try re-installing or else just unscrewing a little and fiddling some. If all else fails, sometimes certain coils just aren't good, especially for newer builders. Not sure if you're new or not, but either way this is a fairly common issue.

What KenD said.

Did you wrap, these coils yourself or buy them?

If they are heating unevenly their resistance isn't matched or you have a bad connection. You shouldn't even be wicking them or trying to vape until you have equality in their heating, no wonder your vape tastes bad.

What wire are you using and what settings are you using on your mod?

You say you are relatively new to vaping which worries me a bit as you are trying to set up something that is on an advanced level with little knowledge of what you are doing.

Watch a lot of YouTube videos there are loads that will show you how to set up a dual coil atomiser.

Who sold you this set up? They want shooting for not making sure you know what you are doing.

What awg? What material? What ID?
If you made them the resistance should be checked with a DMM, must be equal as stated above. When installing, both sets of legs must be equidistant to the posts.
Real cool atty, troubleshoot by reversing the coils' position, easy with a velocity deck.
Same coil giving you grief?

I have an ijoy limitless Xl,,thinking you had the same. Mine does not have the large pipes at the bottom.
Now giving "advice" on a topper i haven't examined.
1, too much wick, use only enough to cover juice holes,,were ever they are.
2, VG based juice usually will not keep up with low subohm builds after a few hits.
3, a dry hit should blacken your cotten & taste burnt.
4, check out subforums for your Exact atty.
Good luck..

Im using Clapton coils .2 resistance they are displaying .18 ohms on my mod. Now I'm having a dry hit problem. I've watched multiple videos on wicking. This is a major hastle. Any clue what I should do?

if the coils are rated for .2, your resistance shown with both coils should be around .1
