I don't have it, but I know it's top quality. You can go onto his Vapetalk show and see them in action. He doesn't build to make money, he just enjoys helping people and offering a product that was built to last.

This is exactly why I want one, cant ask for more. I'm gonna grab one. I'll let yall know how it goes, gonna order some lower res carts too, been trying to use all these 2.6-2.8 one's up while I try to find flavors I like. Been vaping Bustin blueberry from vaporkings lately and I'm love'in it.

Looks like a nice mod with an efficient regulator. Personally I'd go for the Big Brother or Big Daddy with the meter and on/off option for the meter from boxmods.net. You could get the 18650 Big Daddy for less than the 14500 Rubicon or go for the 14500 Big Brother and save even more. they also have an easier vv adjustment than the Rubicon.

Both are from well respected modders, seem as well built as they can be in a plastic box and use efficient regulators. I'd just go easier variable volt adjustment at a lesser price.

Thanks for the advice, if I find out the rubicon isn't working for me I'll check out one of those. Price isn't the issue for me right now I need something solid I can count on, not to mention I already paid for it :p . I'm on the edge right now because a few pieces of my equipment broke, I'm down to 808 battery and the 5v pass I made. Come tue I'm screwed when I go to work with only 1 battery. I'll be going out to my car to use the pass through soon as my batt dies. Hopefully the replacement battery from v2 will be here tomorrow, says it's in jacksonville but because it's a holiday today might not be here.

Description Unit price Qty Amount
Rubicon VV with Meter $139.99 1 $139.99
Subtotal $139.99
Shipping and handling $5.00
Total $144.99 USD
Payment $144.99 USD
Payment sent to The Rubicon Project

The Rubicon looks like a real hack job to me. Seems rather crude to say the least.

He made a big deal about his specially made regulator and how expensive it was.

Well here is the reg, it is decent, but much cheaper than what he claimed. He now calls it a 'stabilizer'. :)

3A Adjustable step down switching voltage regulator

It's a clunky and large $3 RadioShack box, yet he only manages to get 14500s in there? 18350s could have easily fit, but then again RadioShack doesn't sell pre-made holders for them.

Project Enclosure (4x2x1") - RadioShack.com

The PV looks like some modder's first attempt.

It probably performs alright. It should run circles around the underpowered and quirky LavaTube (thanks to Dimension's switching regulator assembly). It would be OK at about ~$85, but $140... no way.

Argh, already paid for it but I guess it's no big deal if I over paid. I could just have made it myself, I just didn't feel like tinkering with different parts to see what would mesh well, hell I build electronics for a living day in and day out but I don't have a clue on what works best for vaping. He seems like a good(trustworthy) dude who enjoys helping fellow vapers through vape-talk etc. He doesn't really promote his mod at all, I think it's more of a hobby, so I don't mind paying him for his efforts. I would much rather he make a profit than some giant corp, but that's just my preference. I'm sure I'll enjoy the mod when I get it and it will give me something solid to use till I can build one to tailor my needs.

He also recommended as far as tanks go the dual coil 510 from madvapes. Dual Coil 510 Chrome Tank Cartomizer

To newb like myself his advice seems reasonable, bottom line is I'm just ready to ditch this 808 Piece of crap for something better.

Trust me when I say, you didn't over pay. If ever you have an issue with it, which most likely won't happen, he would fix it w/o a doubt.

This is kinda the way I saw it, I'd much rather do business with someone who I have a good opinion of, and he strikes me as a person with a quality personality. Granted I dont know the other people who make the mods discussed in earlier posts. It just felt right so I went for it.

Not to mention he's close enough to me I think I could drive down there in a few hours so he could help me out. lol

Yeah Dave is a great guy. If you ever have questions about anything at all he's a good man to ask. He really enjoys helping people.

There are like 0 reviews for it. On youtube or otherwise, he's been developing this for what seems like years. checkout some of his video's he blasts the lavatube in this one.
VapeTalk - LavaTube Review and Voltage Testing - YouTube

Little confused... watched this video and he doesn't blast the LT at all.. he just shows the limitations, it doesn't do dual coil at higher than 3.5v. The volcano site says it's not compatible with dc's. It's a safety feature. He actually recommends the LT and says it's worth the money.

As for the guy himself.. seems like a standup kinda guy. I guess that device that he is using along with the LT is what he is making and maybe selling? There are modders that make vv devices that do what they are told to do. I have one. I used it with aw imr batts (unprotected) with a LR carto at a higher resistance than it needed to go. Right now that mod is back with it's builder for repairs... Just because something can run a carto at a high voltage doesn't mean it should. When I get it back.. I'll only use protected batts that will trip the protection circuit (in the batts) when they detect a short or an atty/carto that is lower in resistance for the voltage I'm trying to use.

Amp cutoff and protection circuits are there for a reason.

I have a LT and I like using the smoktech 1.7 cartos, they're easier to punch myself, wick good, are longer and hold more juice and they don't seem to be as tightly packed as the boge. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to use them with my LT but they work great at 4.1v. Actually, right now I'm using a smoktech 1.5 dual coil carto on my LT.. no matter what I set my LT at.. my voltmeter shows 3.5. That's a bummer cause dc's are so popular but it's fine for me because I am enjoying using it at that voltage. If I want higher voltage, my $35 vv madvapes box will run that same dc carto at 4.5 (maybe higher.. don't want to go up any higher)
