I've been vaping for about a year (not counting time on cigalikes) and off the cigs completely for a couple of months. Noticed recently that I sometimes don't pick up my vaper for longish periods, especially if I'm busy doing something absorbing. This morning I was up for a couple of hours before I realized I hadn't had a hit. That would never have happened with cigarettes. Other times, like when I'm on the computer, I vape non-stop.

Anyway today I went off to work in my truck. I have a couple of spinner powered protank mini's that I always take to work. I was driving around doing odd jobs for 6 hours. Realised soon into it that I had screwed up big time. One tank was almost empty. The other one had a coil that was close to death. Started thinking I might have to buy some cigs. I was desperately sucking on both of them all day. As dried out and burned as they both tasted I suspect I took a lot more hits than I would have if they had both been good. Didn't figure out until I was almost home that I could have poured the juice from the one with the bad coil into the one that was low, and invented a new flavour.

It made me realize how shaky the recovery process is. Just knowing I couldn't have a good hearty vape for a whole 6 hours almost threw me into a panic attack and brought on visions of a pack of cigs. Like a kid going on a trip without his security blanket.

I need more equipment. I need spares stashed everywhere.

Also could have just moved the good coil to the fuller tank. I get what you're saying though, I think on most days, I'm vaping a lot less than when I first started, but at other times I'm going almost non-stop. If I know I won't be vaping for awhile, like if I have a long meeting, I get antsy and chain vape, just like I would have had a couple of cigs back when I smoked. Old habits die hard.

Maybe you can keep a bottle of liquid and a spare coil in the car for emergencies

I had a scare when I was first starting and decided I had to make sure this doesn't happen again.

It was a little expensive and not everyone could do this I realize, but I went to the B&M and bought a couple pro tanks, couple pack of coils and a spare battery.

I then set out about how to make this full proof and that is when the mechanicals and rebuildables came into the piture.

I have to say, in hindsight, a really good mech with decent batteries and a kayfun or other tank of choice is the best route to go for a budget.

I have more gear than one really needs, but so what, I am a single guy with a reasonable income and I can do what I want.

This was the first time I almost ran out so I never really thought about it before. Fact is, these days every gas station sells something 24/7 that would tide you over.

But just in case, you could bury emergency packs sealed in ziplock bags in out of the way corners of parks around the city, just in case you were stranded after dark and all the gas stations were closed because of civil disorder or zombies.

When I first started to vape I had scary thoughts of "what if I run outta juice"moments and it would scare me. Note I carry more than what I need to get through a day. I also carry enough crap with me to turn 3 or 4 people onto vaping.
Life if full of those "oh crap"moments. Glad to see that you finally kicked the stinky habit. :headbang:

I am a bit of an obsessive "backup plan"-er... But with me supplying for myself and my girlfriend, it makes extra sense to be prepared. I'm currently without a backup tank (because she has my spare lol) but never without spare coils. Once I learn how to rebuild the coils I will be more set.
Seriously though. Find some cheap "backup supplies" - discount juice, lower-end (but rebuildable) tank, and a small backup battery... And keep them on you!
(So glad my journey to vaping started shortly after my journey to girly-ness... I swear half the stuff in my purse on any given day is vaping related.)

I've titrated down to 6mg and found that I'm really happy at that level after years of vaping. I still keep some 24mg around just because it has a shelf life and can be mixed with 0nic juice to make more 6mg if needed.

I've kept pretty much all the hardware I've had since 2010. I still have plain jane eGo and Riva 650mah batts, old eGo tanks and attys and all the stuff that originally got me off tobacco. I toss juices that are more than two years old.

I never want to run out, but if I did there's a big bottle of Humco VG waiting in the wings to become unflavored juice mixed with a proportional amount of 24mg flavored juice. I could get by if needed!

The moral: Don't throw away anything that could be used in a pinch!

*lol* yeah it goes that way..I'd freak if I didn't have two solid full loaded charged set ups to go and whatever I was going in had a back up too. No biggie now..I'll be alright.

but I still don't leave home w/o

E-Mick - if these things are a daily concern for you, then you should remember the Doomer's Rule: 'Two is one and one is none.'

I always have an extra batt or two, as well as 3 or four other tanks/flavors with me if I plan to be out for more than a half-hour or so.

I always take too much around with me. Really OCD I have backups for my backups.

But I was the same with my cigarettes nearly always had at least 3 packs near by. One which I was using, one in case I ran out and one 'just in case' (I dropped a pack in a puddle, or left them behind at the pub/resurant) any eventuality.

Now when I go out I have at least 4 atomizers filled up with different flavours. The matching flavours in e-juice bottles in case one runs out. Spare battery, spare coils, spare cotton buds (incase an atty starts spitting/leaking) for easy cleaning. I've got all this in little plastic boxes from the craft shop.

So it is easier than it sounds to just grab it and go. It's the only thing I can do to prevent panic and/or chain vaping.

So long as I have all my gear with me I can relax and not think of it. Hardly use most of it but it's there if I need it.

Happy vaping :)
