Picked up my first rebuildable, a Russian 91.

Can someone explain to me about the center post, it's like hooked up to the terminal blocks, and adjusting it lets the one block swing into the other block and short it out. I have it built and functioning well at 1.7 ohms. I don't like how if i adjust the center pin for the 510 connector the blocks come loose, am I missing something as to how to secure the blocks from spinning?

If anyone can chime in, I'd apperciate it.

Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I believe that the Russian 91 uses a screw that secures the block, then the 510 conn. screws into that screw. In other words, you should be able to tighten the 'first' screw to secure the block, then you can adjust your 510 conn. screw independent of that....This is an improvement of the design of the KFL, in which the 510 conn. screws directly into the block....someone correct me if I am wrong (wouldn't be the first time!!)

Completely remove the center post screw. At the base of it (the slotted end) there is a screw within a screw, remove it. this is the "adjustable 510 connector". While the center post is out, inspect it for machining burrs any stray plastic shavings. Put the center post, without the adjusting screw, back in the base of the Russian 91%. Be sure the insulators are in place, round one at the bottom and the contoured one at the top under the positive block. Screw the center post into the positive block and cinch it up pretty tight. That is what will keep the positive block from spinning around. Lastly, make sure that there is one (or two as needed) o-ring on the adjusting screw and insert it in the base and turn until it is flush,

I had issues with my R91 center pin, I'm still not convinced it's genuine. It's nowhere near the quality of my genuine KFL+ and I just got a EHPRO KFL+ clone that is better quality. My R91 insulator wasn't level and if I tightened the center pin enough so the block wouldn't spin, the center pin would go crooked and short out on the base. I had to order new insulators for it. Hope you have better luck.

Have a problem, where the atomizers get 'stuck' onto the 510 connection even though I don't turn them very tight, I think it is the pin pressing and creating tension. Next time I need to refill it i will take it apart and adjust the pin.

Whoa dude. I have the 91 with that same mod on the bottom. But yours is super small. I have the clone. What's the part in the middle that is black?!?! I'm super curious
