I just got my v2 russian. Came with the adjustable pin not the spring loaded. Before i bought it i researched the hell out of them. Finally opted for the Russian over the kayfun, maybe starting to regret it?

I took the adjustable out. Took the block off and put the block on and tightened as much as i dared the inner pin. It felt tight, and i saw it starting to compress the insulator. It is kind of tilted now, i don't dare try and tighten it more. At first i thought it was tight, but i did a build and test fired and it worked. Put it back together and tightened it to my provari and it wouldnt work.

I took it apart and the block had shifted and was touching the other block.

Is there a secret to getting it to stay permanently?

When I'm attaching the coil wire to the neg post and snugging down the screw, no matter how tight the block is, it will turn if I don't grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers. My only guess is the block turned a little bit when you put the coil on, but I'm sure you would have noticed that, but that's all I can think of.

I had thought of that. When i add a new coil to make sure i hold the block so it doesnt move upon tightening the lead.

Any suggestions on wicking? I imagine that is where my issue is. I made sure to put it tight against the side wall as to not interfere with the channels. I don't think I used too much. I can tell it is getting air flow as i see bubbles coming up after a pull. I get burnt hits here and there and not a whole lot of flavor.

Using a 1.4 ohm coil wrapped around a 5/64 bit.

I'm coming from a nautilus mini. Should i not expect much of a flavor difference?

Both of the v2's I've bought in the last month have had similar issues. Cleaning with warm soapy water took care of the off taste. The positive block issue was solved with a rebuid kit from fdv(mainly the insulators), the insulators that come with the russian are really soft. The top one isn't that big of an issue but the bottom one pulls through when trying to tighten it enough that it won't spin.

Did the glowing reviews come from people who got it for free?

I got my russian V2 last year. Got a good vape maybe 25% of the time. The center block spins no matter how much troubleshooting I do, the ohms jump up and down, dry hits despite good airflow... you name it. I've been tinkering with it for a long time now and also doing research so I am confident in my abilities. It was an expensive hassle to acquire.
Single handedly turned me off from getting more high-end tanks (I passed on the Squape and the Elrkoniging or whatever its name is).
Doing OK with a Kayfun replica that cost less than $30. So there you go.

Well, I can tell you this... The pos block won't move on an erlkoenigin or erlprinz because it's recessed :)

On my kfl, the block hardly moves but to get it absolutely still and tight during coil building (which is the process that stresses the alignment in the first place) is to use a piece of plastic with a thickness of a credit card and jamming it between the pos and negative posts... That will hold the block in place while tightening down the coil.... After that it won't move during normal usage.

My center block on my KFL+ spins loose when removing to refill. I can keep it in place no problem when coiling. It only loosens when the center pin is loosened when screwing it on or off my device. Pisses me off because i'll fill it up only to have it give check atomizer because the center pins gets turned while tightening down on my device. I hate having to drain the tank just to fix the center block. This the probably the only design flaw with these things. The center block needs to be attached to the base somehow to prevent spinning.
