I looks like I'm getting some rust at the tip of the Supter T t-tip 510 Stainless Steel. :(

I don't drip "through" the tip (I take it off to drip) and I drain it after every use top facing up.

Anyone else have this happen?

hmmmmmmmmm first time seeing that..... when was the last time you cleaned that? that could be something else like coffee staining.... do you drink a lot of coffee?

actually I clean it about once a week.
cleaned it last earlier today, and noticed it later today.

I don't eat when I vape (which would be gross getting food on the tip) and I don't drink coffee.
Just always drink water when I vape.

That is interesting... I have to be shamefully honest ... I don't bother cleaning mine :p,maybe wipe and scrape :p, but no "cleaning".. no rust with mine either..
I can't tell by the pic, but that might not be rust... I would think if you were to get rust it would be at the bottom of the tip since that is where most of the liquid build up would be ( since while vaping you will be bring some juice up the sides of the atty)

my only question is why would you constantly take it off to drip? just like the looks? also wouldn't your o-ring be worn out by now with the constant wear you put on it?

Technically, Stainless steel can "rust", albeit at an extremely slow rate compared to carbon steels. Anyone who has ever left left stainless steel silverware or knifes lying in the bottom of a wet sink can attest to. Could also be mouth "goo" accumulating in there, since it's shielded in there, it may be accumulating. I'd just clean it up with some mothers polish or the like.

Stainless steel will not rust when kept in contact with air, but will start the oxidising process when no longer exposed to air.

If one was to take a 1" round bar 1' long and tape the middle 4" and then toss it in salt water (accelerates corrosion). Come back 1 year later, you would indeed be amazed that the entire area under the tape has rusted.

Stainless will also react quite severely to corrosion when exposed to certain chemicals. Sodium Hypochlorite being one of them (javex/bleach), especially where welds were involved as the molecular structure in the HAZ (heat affected zone) has been compromised. This includes but not limited to surgical SS.

This is slightly off the subject but I need to ask rather than starting a new thread. I received my T-tips today, two wide mouth shorty 510/901 (SS and Derlin) and a Derlin 801. Both 510/901s fit perfectly. However, the 801 is pretty loose. In fact, I can almost pull it out the 801 atty without holding the PV. I think the issue may be with the O ring being to thin or small. Does anyone know how I can fix that?

Yup! Get a slightly bigger o-ring.

I may have accidently put a #47 oring on it (which would make it loose as you desrcibe) rather then the #5 oring it is suppose to take. Shoot me your address in PM and i'll get you out a couple of the correct ones.

Best,

David

alright, I got it off. hopfully it won't come back soon.

to answer one's question as to why I use the t-tip if I take it off when I drip.

I do that because I don't like the melting plastic.
the o-ring seal is nice too.

I'm curious about this too, and your answer doesn't seem to explain why you do it. You have a metal t-tip, so no plastic there, so why don't you just drip in the hole in the t-tip with the t-tip installed?
