I may be overly analytical and a little OCD, but at least I'm safe.

I'll be receiving some 100mg juice and want to make sure I've got the right set-up to prevent unfortunate accidents. Let me know if there is something to add.

So far, I have the following:
Eye protection.
Latex gloves - I prefer latex when handling smaller, smooth, or wet items.
Apron and a long sleeved loose-fitting shirt.
Respirator mask - just in case.
Dedicated work space - with all mixing materials in place and ready before beginning.
Roll of paper towels.
Secure lock to prevent anybody from coming in contact.
The number for poison control - 1-800-222-1222 - called to confirm.
Sheet of paper listing the materials I am handling in case poison control needs to be called.

Thanks for the input. I actually had not thought about adding in a pre-dilute step. I've based my calculations of going straight from 100 down to 18 in the mixing process. I am very thankful for your responses.

I know there are a lot of people out there who will be ordering 100mg juice due to the flood of "50% off" threads we recently had, so I hope that everybody knows that nicotine is a poison, and will absorb through the skin. I would hate to see somebody, or their children, get rushed to the emergency room or die.

Call it a Public Service Announcement.

Yup, sounds good. Like Lisa B, I immediately dilute 100mg by half, taking it down to a more manageable concentration. Eases my mind a bit. 50mg is substantially less dangerous for someone with a nic tolerance like us, although gloves may still be a good idea while you familiarize yourself with it. But of course, it is still extremely dangerous for pets and children.

I also use a cake pan that is designated to only mixing. I keep all bottles and mixing equipment in the pan when working with the nicotine, so that if there is an accidental spill, it is contained and can't get on the floor where my dogs may get to it.

I'll be working in my "mad scientist" lab outside of the house. This means our cats won't be a problem. I'm using paper to cover my work area and can toss in case of a spill.

Thanks for your responses guys! And hopefully everybody else who has been talking about getting strong juice will be safe too!

I use a little "helping hands" thing to hold the nic bottle in a pan and just wear gloves and glasses. All of my nic is stored in 30ml cobalt bottles from fleabay. I've actually gotten some on myself and didn't notice for a few minutes until I got that "my first cigarette" feeling and wondered WTF, then realized my palm was covered and promptly washed my hands with no perceived long term ill effects.

You have it exactly right. Have fun & be careful. I actually started using 36mg juice to DIY with because of the safety problems.

I decided I didn't want to mess with 100mg nic after the first time, why take the risk?
I have about 120ml of the 36mg now and am trying to reduce the content anyway so I went down instead of up.

Hello!

I want to give you this lil tidbit of advice. Shake the crap outta that 100 mg bottle before you mix it with anything. It can have hot spots inside. I failed to do that and got very "stoned' off my first batch of 15 mg juice I made. I fear I got a hot spot in my thick VG juice that was way above the 60 mg it was supposed to be.

Good luck Sir
Lori

P.S. For flavorings, Perfumer's Apprentice has lil $1.40 samplers. Go stock up and go crazy:) I just ordered 15 today LOL!

LOL, I've learned that with my DIYing just adding drips to general 18mg flavors. I got so excited about getting to tailor my own tastes, I didn't shake them up. Pure flavoring is NOT good to vape! LOL I assumed the same with the nicotine, that it will settle or separate, and will make sure that step is included, especially when I initially mix the original content down. I will be making sure that my 18mg mixes are truly 18mg.
