Hi all! So I have a subox mini and I dropped it the other day while fishing. The negative pin went in and spring got stuck. I thought it was a battery issue so I decided to go buy one online on eBay. It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't used my vape in a few weeks.

So today, I couldn't sleep and so I had the brilliant idea to Google up "Dropped my subox mini" and eventually ending up here. I managed to get the pin by shoving a knife at the slit above the magnets.

But however, before I managed to get the pin out, I toyed around with the battery by sticking a metal tool at the opening of the negative pin and tried opening it like a coke bottle. It started sizzling and so I stopped. Okay after this I then managed to get the pin out. So I stuck the battery into my vape and hit the fire button. The screen was blank and I took off the magnet back and saw the battery' negative pin and the negative pin from the device were sparkling. So I stopped quickly and took out the battery. Now the pin on the device is slightly melted into place and it doesn't spring in anymore..

If I could potentially force a good battery in, and somehow it still works, is it safe to vape on it as per normal? And yes without the battery in and I connected the USB cable the screen shows KangerTech followed by the normal screen so I know for sure my vape still works.

So it goes like this (breakdown):
1) Dropped vape while fishing
2) Negative pin on vape went in and got stuck
3) Haven't used vape in weeks waiting for a new battery to deliver
4) Messed around with battery
5) Managed to get vape's negative pin out
6) Stuck battery into vape and hit fire button
7) Saw sparks and now vape's negative pin is slightly melted into place and doesn't spring back in
8) If it still works, is it safe to use as per normal?

Thanks for the help! :)

No its not safe. The best explanation I can give it has been damaged and its not functioning right. The sparking of the battery is the number one concern here.
Hmm.. It could be from when I toyed with the battery? So when I hit the fire button, it's actually just the battery not workibg properly from me playing with it? Perhaps if I hadn't played with the battery it might actually work just fine? Idk I'm trying my best not to have to buy another one because I live somewhere where vapes are illegal.. :/

No, sorry. It's not safe to use anymore, at least not by my standards.

Sparks = something shorted completely
Melted negative pin = Something shorted really badly

Shorted battery + melting = no bueno: You risk the mod or battery blowing up in your hands essentially. I would just toss the mod and battery, or if you are good in soldering, you could transform the broken mod into a single-battery unregulated mod with a mosfet and a 15kOhm resistor and possibly a single-18650 battery sled/holder.

If you don't mind me asking, but in which country do you live in?

If your not sure what you're looking at, it would be best to have some one look at it who is familiar with this sort of thing and can test it. It might be fine to use, but might not, can't really tell without actually seeing it in person. Sounds like it may need some level of repair though really.

I can't really go to a vape shop simply because there's none here. Hahaha

Yeah, it's a bad situation for a vaper to be in. Some pics may help if you could do that. Other than that, it'd be a good idea to get a multimeter, if you don't have one, and study up on how these things work, in a short time you'll be able to test it out yourself.

About vaping in Singapore, I found multiple different sites saying it's legal to own and use vaping equipment, but illegal to import/sell and other sites saying it's completely illegal etc.

I suggest you check this part of the forum out, there's actually quite many singapore vapers in ECF: where to get e cigarette in singapore?

they didn't mention anything about a vape shop.
No, a knowledgeable vaper would be preferable, but if that's not possible, just someone familiar with basic electrical circuits should be able to figure it out. Of course, it should be someone you trust isn't gonna narc you out.

That all changed on December 15th, 2015. Now you can be fined if caught using/owning one.

Didn't really find any relevant info regarding dates and such, which is why I said there's sites that say different things. Haven't kept up with info outside EU, as there are huge legislations being processed in the whole EU-area for every single EU country.

Here's a pic:

Not the clearest I know as I'm doing all this through my phone and it's a hassle. But as you can see the connection is slightly offset.
