I currently order my juice from mount baker Vapor. I was looking at the label on the latest bottle I received and it says it includes an ingredient that California says can cause cancer. I know this is an evolving science and formulations are always changing with new discoveries, but I started vaping to quit cigarettes because of the health risk.

Is their a juice manufacturer that is known as the "safest" and does not include ingredients that may cause cancer?

Personally I wouldn't worry about it, the level of risk to you is extremely low for whatever is in your juice. Just because it has a sticker warning you about something that is in it that causes cancer is just something they have to do by law. I guarantee the air you breathe outside has more crap in it to worry about then your juice.

I've found some info and it seems that MBV is just protecting themselves. My older relatives bring up every article they find showing cancer caused by using vaper. Cigarettes kill, no doubt. I just want the safest vaper. I wouldn't doubt there is some crappy vapor out there, but I expect MBV to have quality juice. Their bubble gum with no extra shots is great for quitting cigarettes.

Highway man can you please point me to the research that states that vaping is safer than the air we breathe?

I am trying to substantiate with research the claims I read here on ECF. It would get my Dr. off of my back. He tells me I am a guinea pig and that nobody knows what the long term effects are of vaping.

Thanks in advance!

Many years ago the state of California passed Proposition 65 which mandates, among other things, that this warning be posted almost anywhere a customer might consume a product or purchase said product for later consumption.

Saw this a few years back on the entrance to a Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant:

I suspect this is MBV complying with Prop 65 so the State of California or its residents cannot sue them if someone has an allergic reaction or health issue they try to blame on e-liquid purchased from MBV.

It's a crazy place with lots of crazy people but here's a pretty good site for more information:

Maybe suggest to your doctor that he read up on the long-term, 4-year study that Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL is conducting. Moffitt is highly respected not only throughout Florida, but also nationally. They're studying e-cigarettes and trying to find out if they could/should be recognized as a smoking cessation product just as Nicorette, lozenges, the patches, etc. are currently. Vaping is even allowed anywhere in their Smoking Cessation building where the studies are being conducted, and with their doctors in charge of the study present during said vaping.

Is their a juice manufacturer that is known as the "safest" and does not include ingredients that may cause cancer?

I don't know of one that is the "safest". However, you can check to see if any ingredients that some people try to avoid are in their e-liquids... if the website lists all the ingredients of each of their juices.

These ingredients are considered by most to be OK, from what I've read & heard: Natural & Artificial Flavors, PG, VG, Water, Tricetin, Sucralose, and Ethyl Alcohol. (Some people like to avoid the Ethyl Alcohol though, because it's essentially grain alcohol, and gives a sort of "sting" or "bite" to some flavors if there's too much in it.)

Ingredients/words to look for that some people consider to be not OK, again only as far as I can tell: sometimes it will just say "diketones", and other times it will list them as Acetoin and/or Acetyl Propionyl.

If you're in doubt that an e-liquid contains the above, maybe because there's no detailed ingredient list given on their website...give them a call and ask if you're really concerned about it.

I, personally, still buy several flavorings to make my own e-liquid that contain Acetoin and Acetyl Propionyl, but only if there is no alternative of the same flavor that doesn't contain them. Most websites will show the ones without those as having a DX designation in their names (ie. The Flavor Apprentice flavoring named DX Bavarian Cream is the alternative for Bavarian Cream that has no diketones...the Acetoin nor Acetyl Propionyl).

The safest juice manufacturer is probably you and there are getting to be more and more reasons to DIY. My current recipe is 59% PG, 39% VG, 1% nic, 1% flavoring.

A lot of vapers hesitate on DIY because they are afraid they won't come up with good flavors. To remove that risk make unflavored base with the same nic level as the commercial pre mix you buy then cut it 50-50 or, what I do, 25-75. You may find the taste is improved with a lower percent of flavor and you're saving a bunch of money. If that is a confidence builder get some flavoring and try making from scratch.

The health warning is a CA requirement because of the nicotine in it. It put on all bottles as a way to save time picking out single ones sent their to sell there. The reason you don't see it for other states is that in general the regulations and health concerns are over tobacco consumption, not nicotine.

As for safest manufacturer. They bit on the pricey side, but Halo took the high-tech full clean room lab route. Check their ingredients so Diacetyl-free among other things. I always got the feeling they set up the way they did because they like others thought the sky was falling with regulations so was preparing for that to stay in business. Instead it resulted in them just being safe and good quality in general.

You can try 3T organic. That is the brand i vape. They use only organic tobacco, organic vegetable glycerin and water. One of their e-liquids was given to me as a gift from my brother and i loved it. They have certifications and everything. Very good staff IMO! I just made a new order and the product will be delivered next week. I got the menthol and original tobacco flavours! Check out the site: Organic - K by eKarma. Hope i helped with this info.
