Safety of various wicking materials

I've heard all this fuss over how Rayon is chemically processed, and how Silica might cause cancer. I want to know what you guys think about the safety of various materials used for wicks. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I'm just curious, and want to hear the concerns of others. If you are new to vaping, you should know as far as I can tell, there is no evidence to support any wick material is dangerous, as far as normal wicks go, as in cotton, rayon, silica, etc. I wouldn't try asbestos.

Well ... asbestos is incredibly heat resistant. What could be the harm?

What is the kind of cinnamon flavor to avoid in e-liquids? The one that causes some plastics to break. Is it the big red gum spicy kind, or the cinnamon roll kind. Now I have to avoid creamy flavors or at least not sub-ohm 20 mils a day of creamy popcorn flavor... Save me Jebus Rice. Way to many things to remember.

I have not seen any studies on inhaling burning cotton, like you get from a dry hit, so there probably is no evidence.

On the other hand there is probably no research on inhaling burning cyanide either so there is no evidence of harm there either.

Inhaling burning cotton is incredibly dangerous. There have been lots of studies about it. Maybe not posted on the forum, because cotton wicks well...

Hey Steve...I use exclusively organic cotton wicking (thinking it was safer)...would you share those studies? I also do builds for other people (son and dog walker basically) so if there is something bad going on there I want to know and adjust...

Alpaca Fiber eh? That seems a little too exotic. It seems as long as you keep the wick wet there shouldn't be any particles flying around. I like the Viva paper towel idea.
