Safety using AGA T2 and sub ohm coils

Hello all! I'm getting ready to leap into rebuildable gennys and I've been watching pbusardos videos a lot and a ton of other videos while reading droves and droves of information. I'm ready I think to make the jump to a mech mod like the bolt and I was thinking about grabbing a kick to go with it just to be safe. Is this a good idea? Also vaping has replaced video games and cigarettes as my expensive hobby now!

dont think a kick makes anything safer. you need to understand amp limitations and be sure not push your battery past its limitation, it can quickly overheat and well you know the end result. as long as your safe use a 2 cent fuse to be safe you should be good. i recently got into rebuilding as well. bought a octopus RBA building coils in the 1.5-1.9 range right now and using it on a regulated device. eventually once i get good enough at building wicks i will be venturing into other RBA and yes sub ohm coils. prob wont use the sub ohm coil much but just picking it up as a hobby is fun to me. good luck. please be safe.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if I can pick up those fuses online? What gauge wire do you think will work best for w beginner? I was thinking of 28 gauge

Jumping into using an RBA should not be taken lightly. These are for experienced vapors with understanding of battery safety, mod safety, knowledge of resistance and voltage, and have/know how to use a multimeter to test a coil's resistance. Failure to research these topics could cause you to destroy your batteries and mod and possibly cause physical injury to yourself or others.

I like that you have done some research already, and have come here to ask questions to learn. I'd also suggest for you to postpone getting into ULR (ultra low resistance) coils until you've had some successful experience with normal resistance coils.

Appreciate the information its very helpful. I'm not heading straight into sub ohms I'd like to hover around 1.8 for my first few builds and then slowly work down to 1 and then I'd like to end up around .8 ohms.

Any recommendations for wire size? The thicker the higher resistance if I'm not mistaken so I shouldn't go for 32 gauge more like 28 to hit 1.5+ ohms right?

get a octopus rba or igoL something along those lines. you can use sub ohm coils in it after you master making normal ohm coils. then when you get good at that you can switch a genesis style rba. then by that time i am sure something else will be invented, then try that lol

If you're going for 1.5 ohms I'd recommend going with a 30G wire. 28G is thicker and harder to work with and requires about 6/7 wraps to hit 1.5 ohms. 30G should take 4/5 wraps and will heat quicker as well. Good luck I dove into RBAs a little while ago and haven't looked back!

Just built my first genesis/mech setup! WoooHooooo!!! Sorry, nothing really to add to the discussion. Just a newb who's completely psyched!!! Do you vets remember ur first hit with an rba/mech? I imagine I'll remember this moment for years to come.

Got so exited I put it on YouTube. Come to think of it, it might add something to the discussion...if anyone wants to see how a K101 hits on an Aga T-2.

I just got an AGA T2 two days ago in the mail. So far, if you can roll a coil, you will love it. I'm using a 3mm silica "U" wick in there right now. I wouldn't travel with it though. The feed hole is open in mine and it likes to drip through a bit.

my recommendation: be patient. be prepared to be VERY frustrated. even if you know all of the theory, read all the info, and watch all the videos, actually doing it for the first time is still difficult. you'll probably pop several coils. if you're like me, you'll have a perfect coil work for a few minutes, then not work because you didn't tighten the screw or the nut enough and the coil came loose.

just don't give up. it may take hours, days, or even weeks to get it right, but it gets much easier with practice. also, from my experience and what i've heard from others, the aga-t series is one of the most difficult gennies to set up, so if you can build it, you can pretty much build anything.

When using mechanical mods, ALWAYS use a fuse.
