Safety ?

This might be a stupid ? I have tons of different wire and was wondering if it was safe to twist say 26g and 28g together, or would it short out.

Ive wondered this for awhile and havent been able to find any answer after a bit of searching.

you can, just make sure you meter your build

Mixing guages works great. Just ohm out your build before firing it.

As long as there isn't a short and the resistance is safe for the battery you're using, it will be fine.

Ya i know that. I just wasnt sure you could twist them cuz they would be different resistance.

What was your diameter of the build, and what did it ring out to? I tried a quad-strand of 30g. Looked pretty, and ended up around 0.5 ohm, but when I put on my rig, it jumped all over the place, and wasn't very entertaining. I've done lots of 2-strand twisted and even a 3-strand - jury's still out on the 3-strand

I'll have to try the different gauges to see what they'd be like.

I twisted up a pair of 28 gauge, then twisted that around some 24 gauge! Looks pretty mean. Fires pretty good too! 0.5 ohm. Get HOT!! I have some twisted 30 gauge wrapped around 24 gauge, but haven't coiled it up yet!! Just been playing around!!
