CHICAGO -- Sales of smoking cessation products are projected to increase 3% from 2011-12, reaching $1 billion and they are expected to continue growth through 2017 reaching $1.2 billion in sales, according to a new report from Mintel. There are plenty of smoking cessation products on hand to help Americans quit smoking, and a new report from Mintel said people are expected to use them.

Notice the subheading on the article.

Also the mention of some innovative approaches.

While there is an endless supply of smoking cessation options already available ranging from patches to lozenges, it seems consumers have some ideas of their own for different formats to help curb the craving. Of those who have previously quit smoking or are interested in quitting, almost half (48%) would be interested in a nutrition bar or a drink that could help them quit smoking and 46% would like a lollipop with low amounts of nicotine.

Now, notice how Drugfree.org ignored innovative products in their coverage of the story at cspnet.

Interesting that the second article also leaves out:
While 60% of Americans who currently smoke or have previously quit say "it's hard to motivate myself to quit, because I enjoy it," 60% say "health warnings about smoking scare me."

Kind of shines a light on the ANTZ lie that "70% of smokers WANT to quit" (ie. hate smoking) so we just have to give them a little shove in the right direction.

No wonder Big Pharma and its paid propagandists at the AMA, ACS, ALA, AHA, CTFK, ANR, etc., etc. hate e-cigarettes. They work! There goes the $1 Billion.
I'm sure others have thought about this scenario.

I suggest BP is just pulling their hair out wishing they stepped into the market
and purchased e-cigarettes. The FDA would, of course, not have had any issues.

I know there's an argument here.
However, I'm sure many of us have thought about this scenario.
:p

Meanwhile, e-cigarette industry sales are projected by Wall St. analysts to reach $1 billion this year, with year-over-year growth of 100%+.

In yo face, Big Pharma!!! :p

Don't think investment companies aren't salivating over this projection, and opportunity.
