Maybe I was overreacting to it. Only been vaping for about 2 years and everyone I talk to says to take battery safety seriously.

Bringing this topic up is all about good battery safety :thumb:

You weren't overreacting - you just didn't get told all the information.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Look, if these cell manufacturer's really gave a rat's :censored: about who used their cell for whatever purpose, they would spend the money it would take to tighten their distribution in order to save themselves money in the long run from lawsuits and settlements.

But they don't do that. Why? Because they don't actually give a sh:censored:.

They are merely taking the cheapest route, which provides a trackable trail, to evade potential future liability - C&D letters.

vape on - nothing to see here.

All they can hope to do is shift liability to the distributors who sell them for "unintended uses".
"You see, my weed wacker has 8 25r cells...(you can't shave if Brawn can't buy cells to put in their shavers)(or trim the edge of your garden)

    Same here.

Agreed, Samsung 25Rs are rated at 20A CDR. If you don't push to 20 A or above they are fine. I use them in regulated mods safely and have done for years.
    It's backside covering no doubt.
Same here. I've used samsungs almost exclusively for nearly 3 yrs. Never had a problem. Even use one in my mech, never an issue. Except for not getting a full half day out of one in the mech, which I expect is the norm.

No news here. There's nothing wrong with the Samsung cells of course, Samsung just want to shield their collective rear end from potential legal liability and focus on bulk selling to the battery pack integrators.

So I say screw them—another reason to choose Molicel next time. They openly sell to the vaping community.

    Bench Retest Results: Molicel P26A 2600mAh 18650...beats VTC5A, best all-around 18650
    Mooch said:
The P26A is my choice for best all-around 18650, for up to 25A or 75W per cell. The combination of its great performance along with its availability from authorized Molicel vendors makes it the best choice in my opinion for moderate to high power use in any device. We don’t have to worry about getting low grade, counterfeit, or old cells and Molicel is willing to sell to the vaping community. No other battery OEM is openly willing to do that.

A Lithium battery is a Lithium battery. Samsung didn't discover Lithium nor invent it. The specific use of a Lithium battery for any application cannot be determined by one manufacturer. Maybe the Vaping industry "should" stop buying / selling Samsung's Lithium batteries, see how Samsung likes that !.

The legal equivalent of plausible deniability, here's the one LG released a while back.

I use Efest batts with no problems. But I don't push them anywhere near even 1/4 their stated limits. Not everyone vapes 0.000001 ohms at 800W

Me too. When I got seriously into vaping I lived a lot of the time in Spain and all the vape shops sold back then were Efests ... I have no concerns about using them as I do Tootle Puffing ( 8 watts with 1.6 ohm coils) with regulated mods 99% of the time.

I do check the state of the wraps with monotonous reguarity, just to be on the safe side.

As has been said, I think this is mainly them covering themselves.

IMR batteries has been coming with boilerplate language about not using ANY battery for vaping.

It is legalize. It is actually SMART in my opinion. No one selling these batteries wants to be sued and the battery makers are jumping on board.

IDK if it would hold up in court but it would make a suit substantially HARDER.

However, it is ALSO not going to magically change the chemistry of your cells or make them any different.. Your battery is JUST as safe as it was before the lawyers decided .... covering was good from the (very few and usually mishandled battery vents, although by all means not Every One.) Batteries are inherently unsafe and should be treated well, and you should have no problems.

Even if treated badly, it takes a fair amount (usually in a mech) to cause a batter to fail. We are ALL fine unless we can't get Samsungs anymore they are my favorite battery. But I believe it will be fine.

I don’t think you overreacted. You saw something you were unsure of and asked for opinions. That’s exactly what you should do. That’s what this forum here for.

When someone posted that Samsung has issued a warning about their batteries on planetofthevapes it got me concerned cause I use Samsung batteries for pretty much all my devices.

I always make sure my batteries are in good health and not to push them too hard. I always look for damage on the wraps, damage on the cell, check and clean the contacts. When using the batteries I check my coils resistance and the amount of amps been drawn when in use.

Just seeing the notice from the manufacturer raised a few alarms.

there i no substitute for my 30qs.

i'm growing to hate idiots that carry batteries in their pockets
    with their change.
    let them burn.
I favour the 30Q myself too.
Lack of battery safety doesn't make them idiots, that's a pretty harsh stand.

i thought all the battery companies had issued those:they werent meant for vaping.. they were there for those big tools and vapers invented machines that use them. they might have gone alright then, thanks for the extra money, prbbly did at fiyst but thhen there was the ecig-face and pocket-bomb hysteries, so thy .... cover!

thought this was part of the mandatory work for the course we had to take here! you know, as soon as a batterspert truancy popoes caught you wandering the corridors of iwannarealmod threads.. there was a link to a whole bunch of these letters_ can't fidn it in my histoire d'amour. but yeah_no_ nothing changes nothing, jusst anotherr don't blame us if you go all Invisible Monsters.. prbbly had one issued already like all the other companies
