In an interview to to KUSI News, San Diego, Kay Coleman of American Cancer Society and Dr. Ramon Hernandez of American Heart Association state:

Kay Coleman, ACS

"Flavors are what attract them to try tobacco."
"if we don't end the sale of ALL flavored products then we have a next generation likely to be addicted to nicotine in tobacco."
"flavors mask the harsh taste of tobacco so they don't even realise that they are inhaling nicotine or tobacco products"
"end the sale of ALL flavored products" (even to adults)

Dr. Ramon Hernandez, AHA

"... it's the flavors are attracting them..."
"... over 80% of our youth who are using tobacco products start using because of the flavor..."
"...flavor... that's what is hooking them and they aren't getting the information from the product maker that there is also nicotine"

The world of science is based on fact. And their statements are directly contradicted by the CDC's "Tobacco Product Use and Associated Factors Among Middle and High School Students — United States, 2019" that shows 55 percent of student respondents attributed it to curiosity. Second-most popular was because “a friend or family member used them,” at 30.8 percent. And third was “they are available in flavors, such as mint, candy, fruit, or chocolate,” at 22.4 percent. So the majority of teenagers vape for the same reasons that teenagers smoked cigarettes in the 60’s and 70’s.

The American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society are clearly not scientific organizations and rather function as propaganda outlets. And investigation is likely to reveal large money donations from billionaire prohibitionist Michael Bloomberg, or his proxy Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

The number of under-age vapers today is lower than the number of under-age smokers when I was under-age. Yet there were no flavored smokes commonly available (unless you count menthol). Therefore I conclude that that it wasn't the flavors that attracted us then, and it isn't the flavors that attracts the under-age crowd now.
