San Fran ban on flavored vape products led to 30% increase in teen smoking

All of these "good intentioned" laws that always backfire. I started vaping in 2010 to quit smoking and it worked.

Haven't had a cigarette since 2011. Would like to vape again though once in awhile, but it sounds like they've made it a problem now.

You can still find gear and eliquids. I have not purchased any in more than 30 days but I think you are still OK.

I'm still of the belief that as vaping becomes more unappealing to do (taxes, flavor bans, less availability, higher prices, scaremongering about the health effects) we will continue to see a rise in adult smoking going forward too. We have already seen seen cigarette sales flatten and rise this past year after an accelerated decline during the 10 previous years... but.. of course... that's all covid's fault.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate: Did the flavored Juuls entice kids to try them, when they might have been reluctant to try cigarettes? Then the flavored Juuls are taken away and the kids that are hooked on nicotine turn to cigarettes?

I would think that those kids would prefer a tobacco flavored or menthol Juul over a cigarette. I think that this is a new crop of kids, thinking that since it's tobacco flavored and thus doesnt taste good, might as well smoke. I mean the tobacco flavors must have all the same bad stuff cigarettes do, whereas the flavored Juuls were just flavors, according to to teen logic. That's my :2c: anyway. I could be wrong. I was once before.

This was recently posted here in the forums but I can't remember where...
Teens Who Vape Would Be Smoking If Vapes Weren't Invented, Study Suggests

Personally I think flavors are enticing to adults and teens alike. The difference maybe was it encouraged more adult smokers to give vaping a chance to quit smoking and teens to choose vaping over smoking.

That is a Not just a Possibility, but also I'm sure a Percentage.

How to Quantify that Percentage? That is where things get Grey.

Do you know the smartest thing San Francisco ever did?

    Me neither.

San Francisco used to just be a Jewel.

Sights and Culture. Jazz and Good Food. Easily the Nicest City on the West Coast. Just the thought of driving down the 101 and Bopping around The City on a Fall Day would put a Smile on my Face.

But that was a Long Time Ago.

Today it is a Filthy Wretch. Rotting from the Inside Out.
