Watched a program on TV the other night about when the increase in all types of cancers, heart problems, problems with ADD, ADHD, Autism and the start of overweight problems that America deals with. Guess what, it all started when so called health experts of the time said that fatty foods and foods full of carbohydrates should be done away with. Suddenly our foods were full of chemically altered items that reduced the saturated fats and carbohydrates that are part of the building blocks that our bodies need to work effectively.

You are exactly right about this. I have known this for years and so have many others. The whole notion of saturated fat being the enemy and the connection between cholesterol and heart disease is NOT based on any kind of sound scientific evidence. It's pure junk science, just like the second hand smoke nonsense.

There is a myriad of info on the internet about this. For those who are interested, I believe a great place to start is here : The Weston A. Price Foundation

But beware, reading about how we have all been duped can be as time-consuming and addictive as ECF. But for those who care about their health, it's worth knowing that most of what we have come to accept as truth regarding a healthy diet is in fact completely untrue.

Natural foods for me are "living foods" (fresh fruits and vegetables, grains, legumes, certain meats, and dairy products), and I get all of these from the farm. There is no "hype" in those. These are good for me..plain and simple.

Store items bombarded by pesticides don't cut it for us. Kinda like that adage - KISS. (Keep it simple stupid.) I've been stupid, in fact I was a Pro. But I've learned. :thumb::2c:

I have noticed that they keep lowering the threshhold for a diagnosis of some kind of condition. For example, you used to have to have fasting blood glucose levels above 120 to be considered diabetic. Now they are calling you "pre-diabetic" at 100 and diabetic at 110.

They used to start you on blood pressure medications if your top BP number was over 160. Now some are starting folks on BP meds when their top number goes above 120.

Same thing with cholesterol. They want to get you on those statins if your LDL is above 100, when instead they used to look at the ratio between LDL and HDL.

you got that right..my poor husband has diabetes and high blood pressure. He is in his 60's an avid martial arts expert, practices 3 hours a day, is 6' 180 and the Dr. tells him to lose weight? His BP is 120/90 and the Dr. wants it down to 110/70? His blood sugar is in the 90's and the Dr. says that is 'marginal'..I told him to just quit going to the Dr., the BP meds they give him make him light headed. He takes 6 different prescription meds a day, bottles of medication line our bathroom counter.. It's BS, the Doctor's don't look at you as a person, they just measure you against some 'standard' that God knows who came up with. (Which is why I only go to the Dr. kicking and screaming when I'm too sick to function)

Another thought that has nothing to do with vaping. I think it's odd that the Government is so worried about saturated fats but allows high fructose corn syrup in just about everything we eat and drink. I've always been thin, but a few years ago started gaining weight with no change in my diet or exercise, just for kicks I quit buying any food or beverage with high fructose corn syrup and lost 10 pounds in just a few weeks without even trying. I think the food industries 'dirty little secret' is that high fructose corn syrup is the leading cause of the huge increase in the number of obese people in the US, but we have to keep supporting the mega corporations that want us to put corn by products in everything from gasoline to pepsi

Whew pixie...your husband sounds in quite good condition. Convince him to drop kick his Dr....or look into malpractice guidelines. What a whack job some people are who call themselves Doctors. My wife has been a RN acute care for a long time and she is so totally disgusted with our system of medicine. She says..."It is NOT healthCARE. There is no care about ones health involved. It is old fashioned "piece work". 1 patient every 15 minutes with no delays. My Mom did that years ago and she worked in a factory.
The latin word for Doctor means "Teacher". When was the last time anyone was taught anything of real value by their Doctor?

This is damn shameful!!! When we found out my daughter had diabetes during a trip to the emergency room, her blood sugar was almost 400! She's excited when it's only in the 90's!!

They actually want to ban everything there except vegan food. They try to ban Happy Meals, salt, the sun, beef, fish, chicken, cars, trucks, electricity, smoking, fat. You name it.

No no no, they dont want to BAN the sun... they want to figure out a way to TAX you for using the Sun's light ;)

Was it the movie "Fathead?" It completely debunks "Supersize Me" and shows how corrupt the food industry is ala tobacco prohibitionists style lies, misinformation and junk science to control our behavior. It's a real eye opener!!

Yup, that's the one. A real eye opener that makes one stop and really think.

I posted this comment:

OMG, I thought that we Californian's were more accepting, understanding, and smart enough to know the difference between a duck and an electric duck.

I smoked a pack-a-day for almost 25 years. After considering my options carefully and doing some research, I purchased my first e-cig. With in a 2 week period, I completely stopped smoking. That was 14 months ago.

I agree 100% with r410berry, if our officials truly cared about us, they would help educate the general public about what e-cigs are, and their benefits.

I think therein is the answer. They do not.
