Hey guys just wanted to ask/share/inquire:

1. Anybody know what the info on the safety cut off is?
2. I got the corolla and the firing response is pretty slow.... I use it for my genesis takes 1-2 seconds to fire up anybody else got that issue?
3. Last question is that I usually end up needing to press the fire button pretty hard for to fully fire anybody else?

Just wondering if these are manufacturing or the thing is built that way.

Other than that its a pretty good device, been pretty happy with it past couple of days. Those top three are the only issues I have with it.

Cheers!

Ok..Here goes....

The Corolla is a mechanical mod. There will be no safety cutoff..
The reason your getting a slow fire is probably due to :
A. I relatively high ohm coil. A mech will fire a rba best (quick response) at 1.1-.9 ohms..
B. Are you using a UN protected Batt? The Panasonic NCR18650PD is an excellent choice:

These bad boys carry a 2900mah life with a 10amp discharge capability. Yes I know most Mech manufactures say to use "Protected Batts Only", but for God's sake.. don't listen to that. Put a vape safe in it, and load it up with some muscle.

Of course the ever popular AW IMR's are excellent, along with the soon to be discontinued Panny CGR's....

C. It is not uncommon for Chinese Mechs to be in need of a little "caressing" to make them hit like a champ. The firing pin and Batt post could probably be in need of a sand job, to get rid of the chrome or other plating. In the mechanical world, everything revolves around "conductivity"....Voltage drop at the 510 is a major hurdle and problem with Chinese Mechs. However, if a little time is spent with them, they can be made to perform (and look) like a MOD costing 10 times as much:

*Danno: Lets change that description "Chrome over Copper"..please kind sir...as much as I would LOVE for it to be !!!

Hey thanks dude. Kinda answer my questions. The genny's ohm aren't too bad... I rotate 3 so they are around 1.0 - 1.5 respectively (I also have an MVP on the daily and sometimes carry genny's with higher ohm when I can sit down and vape)

I think it could be a firing issue. You're right, 'caressing.' I was previously using a K-100 and that was my first mech and switched over because threading became lose, that zapped like a beast but with Corolla gets a bit tiring. Kinda a hit and miss.

Wish I could get into that control head and take a look. Thanks though, kinda put the issues I have into perspective.

Edited: FOR PISS POOR GRAMMAR! My bad.

Norman, Ok
I have no issues with the protected batteries and have always used them.

I don't have an issue with them either except where I'm needing more amps than most of them can provide... such as variable MOD's that the volts need boosted in them... Since that type of circuitry has built in protection, using an unprotected battery is a non-issue safety wise.

L-rider Corolla SCOPE Mech Telecoping Mod w/ Adjustable Air Flow
$54.95

Stunningly gorgeous 100% mechanical mod, well built with smooth thread action and perfect heft in the hand. Made with pride by leading PV manufacturer, L-rider.

You can use 18350, 18500 and 18650 batteries with this mod. The mini manual that comes with it insists you must use a protected battery but they say that mainly as this would have no short circuit protection as it has no PCB board (as with all mechanical mods). For complete safety you can install a Vapesafe (available at GotVapes) if you use standard IMR batteries.

FEATURES:
  • Highly polished chrome over copper. The finish on these is outstanding as you can see in the pictures and includes the same finish on the locking fire button.
  • Generously sized top firing button with adjustable throw all the way until you can actually lock it while in your pocket or purse. Must emphasize that all the thread action on these units, after testing several, were found to be very smooth and pleasant, high quality.
  • Can accommodate 18350, 18500 and 18650 batteries.
  • Telescoping- it does not require extra end caps to install various sized batteries.
  • FIVE AIR HOLES AT TOP for ADJUSTABLE AIR FLOW: Provides a top knurled ring that can adjust up and down providing total control over air flow! Cover the five consecutive air holes from 0-100%.
  • Vented base
  • Logo packaging with color manual card.

Day-um!! This is a nice looking mechanical !! :D

Love the look and feel of the Corolla, however...I finally got a button top 18350 IMR battery and the Kick. I installed the Kick, then the battery and screwed everything together. As soon as I did that, I heard it firing! The only way to get it to stop was to unscrew the middle tube to break the connection. Why would it do this without even pressing the button? Anyway to fix this? If not, well, it'll make a good paperweight. Thanks.

So.....the red wire (although why it has a wire since it's supposed to be mechanical, I don't understand) on hubby's Corolla came off and his mod is now totally dead. No, it's not the battery...........no it's not the tank..........so what's up with this? It's only a month old.

Good luck getting an answer........they don't seem too interested in standing behind their product.

Did either of you submit a ticket on these problems? That would be the fastest way to get some help with your issues. I would love to be able to advise you, but since I don't have one of these I have no knowledge that could be of assistance.

I guess I thought they'd think I did something to it to make it not work properly. But I just submitted a ticket, so we'll see what happens. Funny thing, the Corolla's on sale, wonder if they've reduced the price because of so many complaints? We'll see.

Nah, no conspiracy, just frustration speaking is all.

The reply from Gotvapes was "Sofar as kicking it, from what I am told the corolla should not be kicked infact what I am finding is that only bottom switched units can be and not the top switch ones." Plus he said I may have to send it in for testing.

Any thoughts on Kicking bottom or top switch mods?

I took out the Kick, put the button top battery back in and it did the same thing, fired before I even pushed the button.

1. Naa... Woody must be mistaken on the kick with a top switch issue. (He's really, really, really old, ya know.)

2. Ok, so it has nothing to do with the kick. It is just a manufacturer's defect on that Corolla. I'm sure when you send it in it will be promptly replaced. GotVapes has very good customer support.
