Hey all, I'm about to throw away a pack of CE2's I bought. I can't get them to vape right for me. I'll fill them (which I think is a real chore with the needle tip and all) leave a drip on the coil and put the cap back on (no middle ring in mine like I see on a lot of video's). So then the first couple of hits are good but after that all I get is a ton of vapor and little to no throat hit at all. The carto's that came with my KR still work great for me but the store I bought them at doesn't have them in stock anymore so I'm afraid if they die I'll be stuck :s
So I've tried the PTB mod ... afterwards I was told I used the wrong tea bags so that explains why it wasn't good at all, 1 carto gone :) I'll have to get some tea bags to try that again.
Then with the next one I tried pulling up the wick a little and put the sealing cap on upside down so I can pull it out easyer and I was lead to understand that it wicks better that way. So yeah, same deal, first couple of hits, good taste, great vapor, slight throat hit, after a couple hits, still taste and vapor, throat hit, gone :(
I thought of using them with a drip tip but then I'd be dripping the center which would result in fluid going down the center shaft straight into my battery (had that happen quite a few times while filling while unscrewed from the battery) which would eventually break the battery since I have automatic batteries.

Also, whatever I do with them, I almost always manage to get fluid in my mouth. And my stomach doesn't react well to that, burning sensation, some cramps. Nothing major but no fun either. I should not that this is whenever, even well after I dripped on the coil and with stock or modded versions.

I really like the vapor and flavor they produce but I miss the throat hit. I may get over this after vaping for a longer while but I've only been vaping (totally A-free) for a month so I still miss the regular cigarette feeling.

Any other tips to make use of the CE2's?

What rev are your CE2's? Those things went through several revs. The current rev is 4 at some places and some others claim they have 5.

You are using an atty and carts too? - try blue foam, the most popular stuffing. If you are using 510 carts try the precut blue foam at strictlyejuice.com, smaller cart plugs can be cut from those. otherwise you need to use the bulk material which costs $8 instead of 75 cents - Marineland Rite-Size U Foam Sleeve from Petsmart Aquarium dept.

And try some normal cartos. I now see you have KR. If that is KR808D-1, nHaler.com has Boge soft-caps for KR808D-1. LiteCigUSA.net has Premium KR808D-1 cartomizers which are soft caps.

So your old KR8 cartos - you did reuse them until they were not good anymore?

if first couple hits are good then slacking off, how often are you hitting it? if you are chaining, you need to let the wicks do their job and give it a bit of time to pull liquid up to the atty. I know with mine, if I hit it, hit it , hit it, by the third time it's really just getting the coil hot and if i do it too many times I burn the wick and get crap flavor. best to hit it, hit it, rest it, hit it.

I should have mentioned I use the CE2R4's or what I believe are those anyway, no filler, wicks on the sides, rubbery seal on the cup and soft cap to close the thing off.

@dormouse: I don't use atty's and cart's or at least I haven't so far. I didn't even know they existed for the KR808D-1. I have ordered an ego so I can test that out.
My "old" carto's still work, got 6 with my KR and then another 2 with my PCC. I'm rotating 4 with different flavours. So far none broke after a month of use so I'm good for at least another month with those.
As for the blue foam, I have no clue where I should get it. Or rather, what to ask for, as I'm not a native english speaker and I don't know how to translate to dutch. And I rather not explain in the shop why I need it, e-cigs are a rather grey zone legally so ...

@DMF: I do take hits in fairly fast succession sometimes but I also tried to let them wick after I loose hit or flavor but to no avail, if I pick them back up a couple minutes later nothing has changed.

@ropetrick: I have no clue about the ohm rating I'd have to measure it but I don't have an ohm meter around.

@cookiebun: CE2's are a type of cartomizers. afaik CE stands for ceramic.

I ordered mine here

I am confused -

Why were you talking about PTB (Pyramid tea bag) mod? That is generally for carts used with atomizers, not cartos. if you were doing some PTB mod for Ce2s, I have no clue. Blue foam - ignore. That is for carts, not cartos.

Sorry - you confused me with the PTB stuff. You can screw a DSE901 atty on a KR808D-1 (standard resistance DSE901,, not LR which is meant for fat-battery models only. You can fry a slim battery with an LR atty)

BTW what is the resistance of your CE2's? Normal KR8 cartos are up in the high 2's and low 3's

I saw it done on a couple video's on youtube. Basically, you pull the wick out from the side, cut it off and in place of the wick you put a folded piece of PTB.
YouTube - C-E2 R4 & R3 Simple How To PTB MOD ( NEW !!! )
There is a better video but I can't find it right now but you get the idea.
Trying to find my way around the nhaler website now o_O

yeah i belive you use the ptb on the sides with the wicks to make them wick faster.alpha i feel your pain i got a pack of clearomizers and get no taste no throat hit and i got a vv mod so i been trying to dial it in but it just doesnt work. doesnt matter what kinda juice i use pg vg or mix they alll have no flavor or throat hit so idk for some they work and for others they just dont. im one of the unlucky

What are you using for juice? I find the CE2 is almost as good as an atty for flavor and throat hit. A pain to refill, and in Mass "EZ Refill tools" are illegal, so they stay at home for the most part, but otherwise no probs. What are you using for juice/nic level? The level of nicotine may have something to do with it, likewise the amount of PG. From your post is looks like you have only tried one so far; try another. Out of 10 I have used so far, 2 either went away quickly or didn't produce good vapor/throat hit. So far, they are my favorites. Good luck.

I too have a box of CE2's, and after the first one, the remainder are shelved to collect dust. First issue is they are a PITA to fill. And since they are not clear, you really have no way to tell when it is full until it starts over flowing... But then I got 2 or 3 good tasting hits, and then it went straight to that dry carto taste. I loosened the inner seal so it could wick better, but still had the same issue- 2 good hits, then nasty dry taste. Then I would have to let it sit for a bit to get flavor back into the wick again.

Like wow- if I wanted to go thru this much effort I would just drip. I went back to the trusty cartos- at least those are simple and provide plenty of tasty vapes.

@Steam.Punk I've tried several juices, got 3 of them open and I tried about 4 or 5 different juices, 1 I actually used for a while with my peanut butter 11mg juice. That was untill I tried that juice in my other carto's and got better throat hit although a little less flavor. Most juices I tried were PG, 16 or 11 mg. One was 80/20 PG/VG but I didn't get much difference with either juice, couple good hits but never a whole lot of throat hit. Could that be PG related?

@N2rock Yep my feelings exactly, my main issue is tho, I can't go back to the regular carto's since I don't know where to get them and my supplier is out of stock (unsure if he will restock aswell).

Update: I tried the dry burn as explained by DJbizzum on youtube. Clean the cart in hot water, rinse with hot water then do a dry burn (which btw sucks pretty bad with an automatic battery as you have to blow in from the opposite end so you don't even see the coil). So after this, I put some of my 11mg peanut butter juice in and the throat hit wa a lot better, vapor and taste good as usual. Better even, I didn't have the burnt wick taste that I had before but didn't really notice, but now with it gone I do notice. If I understand correctly its because of some primer on the wick ...

Anyway, carto works well for me now although, even after vaping it for about 2 hours off and on, I still get juice in my mouth which is giving me an irritated stomach, burning sensation etc. I'm wondering tho, is it because these carto's heat up so much faster than the other ones I have or is it leaking?

Either way, I'll give them another shot since I get what I want now or almost at least. I'll keep you posted.

I really enjoy my Ce2s, But unless I get the lower resistance, 2.4 - 2.6, They can be a bit of a disapointment in vapor pruduction. What I see it that the wicks choke up going around the bend into the coil and also sometime though the coil. I have started opening mine up to begin with to check that the wick goes through the coil loosely. and if not I loosen it up by gently working 2 straightpins though from each end. Eventually the coil will get caked up anyway. but should get more enjoyment from it for a good time longer. While using when not working so good tip the mouth piece end down briefly to alow liqud to run towards the coil. This helps for me. As for the plastic tube. I have been putting a small bead of super glue on the seration. This makes it pretty secure.

Same issue I had with the regular (steel) ce2's and the clear fluxomizers. Decent vapor, but no TH or flavor. I bought a vv unit (VMU) thinking it was an ohm/voltage issue, but so far no luck. So I'm dissappointed in the ce2 concept as well. Looks good on paper, just doesn't work well in real life. My vv rocks on premium 808 and 510 cartos though so its all good.

Opposite results here...first one out of the pack (clearomizers/fluxomizers) was a dud, the next 9 have been almost perfect.

A little warmer than I'd like because the coil is so close to the mouthpiece, but flavor is fuller than anything else i've tried (atomizers, lr atomizers, other cartos, the idiot tank, those Smart Cart 2.0's, etc.)

Not fond of the syringe filling part, either, but if I had a bunch and could fill enough at once to last a week or two, I'd be a happy camper.

I killed almost an entire pack of clear CE2s through my own misunderstanding. Then I found this youtube video, and the last one worked over and over like a champ until I clumsily stabbed the coil with a screwdriver.

Long video short:
1. Remove rubber cap and inner "sealing" washer
2. Fluff the wicks upward with a pointy object until they are making upside-down "U" shapes, with the arc rising just above the level of the coil before diving back downwards into the reservoir
3. Drip down the sides to fill the cartomizer, filling until the juice is just below the level of the cup.
4. Put inner cap back in upside down, until its pressing against the top of the cup.
5. Top with mouthpiece, and vape away...
