Poor Throat Hit on CE2 Clearomizers

I have never tried cartomizers and thought that the CE2 clearomizers might be a good place to start(maybe not enough research). After using them for a couple of days I really think the vapor production is great, however the flavor is a bit off and the throat hit is practically nonexistent.

While flavor is a key factor, I would sacrifice a little flavor to get at least some throat hit on these.

Has anyone had any luck with getting some throat hit? Maybe fiddling around with them?

I am using them on the 650mah ego battery.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Try different juices. If you're using high VG then you'll get lots of vapor and flavor but less TH. High PG, high nicotine, and some flavors produce the best throat hits. A 70/30 PG/VG ratio seems to be a happy medium for me to get decent flavor and still get a good TH. You can find juices in any ratio of those pretty much so just browse around, try different vendors and ratios and you'll find that happy spot!!

The ones I bought are rated at 2.8-3.0 Ohms. The RY4 I made is a 70/30 PG/VG respectively. I appreciate the input kmac. I just ordered some new juice two days ago and I will give it another shot.

standard 510 atty is 2.3-2.5 ohm IIRC; so that difference alone could account for the lack of TH.

with a 650mah 3.2-3.7v battery (like you have) you have free rein to use just about any ohm atomizer/clearomizer you like.

the lower the ohms the warmer, more th you'll get..
the higher the ohms the cooler, less th you'll get.

thus why folks are always raving about dripping with a cisco 1.5 ohm atomizer (it's a 306, but fits on the 510 threading)

Don't know if this is where people usually get it:
Low Resistance 306 Atomizer - VaporFlow, Inc.

Vaporflow used to sell Cisco LR 306, now the LR 306 attys available are from Joye, they're pretty good but not as good as the Cisco's (that's my personal opinion).

When it comes to clearos or CE2, you have to go for 2.4/2.6 ohms with PG juice (ideally 18 or 24mg) to get a good TH:smokie:

The lower ohm advice is solid. I've tried 7 different cartomizers in my short career. including the 2.6 and 3.0 clearomizers. So far the Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers are tops, as good as dripping on my 510's both LR 1.5 and standards. They suck down the juice though, and they like to stay wet,

As always, results are subjective and the wide variety of available hardware creates an R&D necessity in search of YOUR ultimate vape.

I've put the 3.0 clearomizers on the shelf until I get a variable voltage device. My next piece of R&D.

Cheers

I've been touting my love for the CE2 for the past few days in different threads, so why should I stop now? :)

I use a 2.6-2.8 ohm XL on my eGo batt...I use it on both the 650mAh and 1000mAh eGo-T batt. I agree there's no comparison to dripping, but I try not to drip and drive. With that in mind, I've been looking for the perfect setup: I've gone from 510 cartos, to cartridges with polyfill (yuck), carts with PTB (great), eGo-T (will soon be great...WORK OUT SOMETHING FOR VG..SO I CAN USE MY TANK W/BOBA'S!), and the CE2. The CE2 is the closest I've found to dripping in terms of taste and TH.

There are some things you need to do to insure these things, namely:

1) Place an empty/new CE2 on the batt...remove both the mouthpiece and the inner seal (use a paper clip fashioned to a hook). Then carefully wiggle the plastic tube off of the atty.

2) Take a pair of tweezers and "fluff" the silica rope around the ceramic housing by pulling the threads a little loose. This will aid in wicking.

3) As for filling: if you use a syringe you're probably good to go; I don't, so what I do is drip my bottle down the side of the tube (did I mention putting the plastic tube back on yet? Well...do it :)), checking the level as I drip. It works great!

4) If you wish, or, if you plan to put your PV down, I would replace the inner seal. Make sure you align the notches on the seal with the silica rope to insure proper wicking; this can be tough sometimes, but don't compromise...get it right.

CLEANING

Pretty simple really: once empty, just remove things same as above, detach from batt, and then place the plastic tube and inner seal in distilled water (I don't even boil it...right from the jug). Swish the atty in the water to clean the silica rope. You can then let the whole unit soak for a few minutes if you like.

Pat the individual parts dry using a paper towel, paying particular attention to the silica. Blow the atty out from either end (I blow from the ceramic side). Reassemble the CE2 (leave the inner seal until later if you plan to immediately refill). I then dry fire until I see the entire coil glow; I also gently scrape any dark spots with the paper clip.

Refill using procedure above.

Wash, rinse, repeat....it's really simple after doing it once.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips everyone!

Porkchopsisgood - Does fluffing the silica rope really make that much difference? I mean, the ones I am using do wick very well. I haven't received any burning taste or anything.

If you're not having wicking issues I wouldn't worry about it too much. I occasionally get dry hits, and I feel the fraying allows for more surface area for the liquid. I think the important thing is to align the inner seal when putting it back on...that's key. I've been off by just a tad, and I'll have dry hits in a matter of minutes.

My biggest problem is impatience: if I just let the wicks absorb some liquid for a few minutes, maybe a drop of juice on the atty, then I'd be fine. But so many times I'm taking drags as soon as I get the inner seal on...sigh. I'll learn someday. :)
