thanks! off to RS i go. need to go out! do you know if JB weld is really non toxic? i want to coat my needle i have bottom feeding my Juicebox cuz its shorting... if not would silicone do the trick?

I wouldnt use JB weld for a mod personally...even if its non-toxic it still smells nasty. You might want to try the putty if you get it. Its much better than working with silicone sealer and no smell.

Epoxy 330 is a good clear type epoxy for modding too.

misterD...yes I gave up the reed and wick design and went with the glass tube. The reed worked but was a bit to fragile for most to work with...plus I didnt have the glass at the time. I just tuck some wick in around the coil loosely. So when you look at the drawing, picture the reed and wick replaced by a glass tube, and the teflon tube just come in to the cart cavity without connecting to the glass so there is a small reservoir of juice. Ill get some better pics and stuff later on.

i really wanna make a bottom/top/feeding/dripping box. cos on my box i felt like the top of the atty mesh was kinda dry. plus if i stick some wick in there it might keep it from leaking. but right now id like to use your ideas to improve this one i just made. and this reservoir?
isnt there any risks of you sucking up the juice inside your mouth? why a reservoir when you have a whole bottle full of liquid inside yer box? sorry for the too many questions and i really do appreciate your help!

This is the way I have it now. The reservoir is not needed...it just happened because the teflon tube and the glass tube wont connect unless a fitting is made, so I just left it for now. Just make sure the glass tube doesn't stick up too far above the plug or you will have to wait until it fills up enough to go down the tube. I didn't put wick in the end of the glass tube because the hole is too small. Small tubing I think is the key here to prevent flooding. There is no more risk of sucking up juice than any other method as long as you don't flood it. The glass tube should touch the coil or close to it so it has to go in to the wick.

Questions are not a problem D...don't worry about it.

Tight, Nico. This looks great! Lemme know when you get the how-to done.
You should have pointed to here last nite, we wouldn't be awaiting the peen.8-o

Thanks Sci...stuff is on the way...but I'll warn you now I never was good at show and tell. Its fairly easy though.

Yeah...you guys gotta stop getting me in trouble with Dreamy.:lol:

Us?!? I was just stumbling around happily & now I'm going to get peened...8-o
That was some really great links though. Do you know of any silicone like that which will stay flexible? Kinda like the stuff that cart condoms are made out of, but can be molded?

Stick some of that wick in a cart & see. May be the ultimate cart mod! I've got some of the silica rope, can't remember where I got it, never thought if filling a cart with it.

Last glass cutter I had(years ago, el-cheapo) looked like a file with a circular diamond tip on it. Surely they've got something like a pipe cutter that will work for glass.

BTW, we've been forgiven for jackin' Dreams thread last nite. We're safe from the peen for the time being. :)

Sci...that putty sets up just like RTV silicone does. You could make your own condoms...hmmm...that sounded weird.

But it doesnt stick to everything like RTV...you take the two parts in equal amounts...roll it in your hand to blend it...then press it in or on your mold and let it sit until it cures..about 20 min. or so.

I dont know that I would use silica in the cart...you really dont want to mess with that stuff too much. Make sure you wash the stuff from MSC in hot water gently and then pour some PGA or vodka on it to sterilize it, then let it dry on a paper towel...before you pull it apart.

misterD...I use a diamond wheel to score my tubing and snap it...all you need is a scratch in it and it should snap off there. A honing stone edge or anything harder than glass will work.

Nico-I have a question...couldn't you ust run the teflon tubing down into the putty and eliminate the glass tube? I do sorta the same thing but use the blue foam in the cart. I like the wicking down by the coil, where did you get that? Sorry, at work and didn't reread if you already posted it.
I think it would be good for the bottom feeders too, I hate the taste of a dry atty.
Wait, one more question about a bottom feeder while I'm here...the bridge would burn dry on a BF so should you remove it?? I use broken atty's w/o bridges but wondered if it should even be there? Don't care for BF because of the amount of juice it holds so using the wicking stuff should help right? Rambling.....

You could run the teflon right through, but you would have to make sure it stayed back from the coil...it will melt it. I run the glass right down onto the coil so even if your tilting the box the juice will go to the coil and wick and not the sides of the atty. The teflon is supposed to be good up to 500 degrees but the coil gets hotter than that if it get red.

I haven't done any BF's, but I don't think the bridge would be necessary. Petercro or somebody would probably know better on that one, sorry.

Is that the Amazing Putty that you got @ Michaels? How is that stuff at handling heat?

I've been trying to follow along with the original thread, I think my head is full at the moment. Don't say it... My eyes are brown normally.:) I've got a question. While you're in there changing the wick, etc., couldn't you shorten the coil a little & make a LR atty out of it? I know that coil is like a hair, I've got some of the 36 gauge nichrome.

Putty is rated at 500 degrees I think Sci, but the coil will burn it if its too close. On mine its about 1/8" back away from the coil and I have had no problem with it.

You would have to take the atty apart to do any coil mods to the coil...just no way to get to stuff in that small space.

I dont allow the coil to get red hot anyway. I pulse the button to prevent it and I find it has better flavor and the attys last longer...IF you can find a good atty to begin with that is. Red hot destroys the wick and carbonizes the juice to it from my findings.
I made some 5 volt and a 4.5 volt modes and I just dont care for it personally...others do...so I guess its up to personal taste.

Nicotime- There's a Michaels where I live, I'll check them out this weekend. I'm also looking at the amazing casting resin. It'd be nice if I could not buy any more boxes, flashlights, & other strange looking things & just make my own mod cases.:) I saw a guy somewhere in here, that made a mod out of epoxy putty, looked pretty good.

Back to the thread... Finally got a chance to watch the vid. That is kool. I've got some 401s that this would be a dream with if it'll work on them. Have to rework the cart a bit, though. Once again, great job on this one!
