Savings are started too come... slowly

I decided to figure out how much money (if any) I have saved since switching from Analogs.

My Order Total as of 06/20/12 for everything including Shipping Charges = $624.71

Now according to my banner in my signature (at time of post) I would have spent $493.56 on analogs to date.

So $624.71 - $493.56 = $131.15. So just by looking at that number you can say that I've spent $131.15 more than what I would have spent if I stayed on Analogs.

Now I can stop here, but let's go another step further, and subtract the cost of batteries/chargers.

Total cost to date for batteries/kits/chargers = $149.83.

So now I can take $149.83 and subtract that from $131.15.

$131.15 - $149.83 = $18.68

So if you take the cost of batteries/kits/etc.. out than it looks like I saved $18.68 (would have been more, but I'd tried a few different batteries/etc.)

Now I guess I could go one more step and subtract the Shipping charges from the orders that didn't have free shipping.

Total Shipping Charges to date = $41.75.

So if I take that into consideration with the starter kits/batteries/ etc.. - Then it looks like I have saved $60.43.

Now I have wasted a small amount of money simply by purchasing a flavor only to realize that I do not like it, but as of today I think I know what juice combos & pre-filled carts I'm happy with.

I guess none of this really matters when I take into account that I'm now living a much healthier lifestyle by cutting analogs out of my life. I have not purchased any packs of analogs since I received my first starter kit, although I have bummed a total of maybe 7 to 8 analogs during this time.

But that's just in the beginning while you're exploring, and that's kinda important to do because it's so crucial to find the right gear. And with all the great stuff constantly coming out, it's kinda hard to not get carried away. You just have to control that urge once you find something that works, and be happy with that.

You're actually doing better than I was. It took me about 6 months to break even, but I've now saved about $690, and continue to save, since I started (haha, I've been keeping a running Excel spreadsheet since then). And yeah, I've gained great health too!

It's hard for me to imagine spending that much initially .. in the last 15 months, my total out of pocket is around $300.00 ..

I agree it's very easy to go on a Shopping spree with all the new stuff coming out, I believe at the end of the year I will be into the Green a good amount (I hope). lol.. I just started an Excel spreadsheet right before I made this post. Thanks for responding cindycated

Bah. The $XX.XX saved part of those banners is generally misleading.

Personally, I've spent probably $750-1000 since I started vaping, and I would have spent roughly $250 on RYO cigarettes. I'm about to spend another $75-100.

I suppose that my spending should go way down after this order, but I thought that when I made my last order as well...

The first 6months I found were the most expensive for me, because i was learning and experimenting- so now i've been vaping for over a year, Im settled with hardware and juice and just have to buy replacements .. DIY helps keep the cost down as well.
Worked out the other day its only costing me now around 250 per year, more or less.

Well, you got me very curious about how much I have spent on vaping vs what I would have spent on cigarettes.

I bought my starter kit on May 26th 2012. To date I have spent $359.12 on vaping, including shipping, etc. Since I did not immediately quit smoking altogether and bought a pack here or there I am currently "in the hole" by $152.32. I would have ordinarily spent $264.87 on cigarettes since the day I purchased the kit until now. Since I did buy some cigarettes that $264.87 gets reduced to $206.87 for the purpose of this demo.

These figures include all my DIY stuff I just purchased and will receive tomorrow. I am going to buy 3 more small items (another Vivi Tank and cartomizer and a replacement head) on Tuesday. That will be about $30.00 total.

Then, I am done for a little while. Since I would buy a pack of cigarettes everyday at $6.25 per pack (not including the 4 packs per week my wife smokes) I should be caught up in no time.

But, like I am sure everyone agrees, the saving of my health is the most important thing. I just did this little drill for fun.

Don't forget about gas...I've probably made thousands of trips to the store/gas stations to buy just a pack of cigarettes.

Let me get real. My banner says I've saved $10,675 in two years and nine months of vaping. I've vaped long enough to know EXACTLY what it costs me (including batts, carts, tanks, liquids, chargers, everything).

$1.50 a day. $548 a year. For the same (actually greater) satisfaction as analogs, with none of the negative side effects (including burn holes and dry cleaning to get rid of the stench).

My two PAD analog habit? Conservatively, $3,880 a year.

My net savings in 2 years nine months vaping? $9,140.

Also you can search for better deals on your supplies. I agree, no matter what the cost is- vapor is better than smoke. PERIOD Keep going and good for you on making the switch!!! Savings will add up most definitely no matter how fast/slow, they will. With ciggies being over 50 bucks a carton and growing- you can't go wrong with what you're doing now.

Once you start DIY, get it down and don't have any more start up costs, the savings are going to add up to like a car payment per month. Good luck.

I am glad I started on a 510 kit (thanks to this place). That kit, a tank, and enough juice to last me MONTHS at the rate I am going through it and I am in for right about $110. I learned that more cartos will be needed at ...like $1.50 each? No prob. If I destroy two cartos a week, and my juice estimate is off and I only make it two months, I'm looking at about a $100/month savings. Even if I only broke even...it's worth it.

OK, since my post drew some questions .. In the last 15 months, I've bought 3 kits, a RIVA 510 original, with the lower voltage batteries .. $30 bucks, Liberty Flights .. then I bought another RIVA kit with the higher voltage batteries .. $35 bucks .. used the on site discount .. then, I bought an Ego kit with a free 30ml bottle of liquid for $45.00 .. all the kits had 2 batteries .. $110.00 total

I get the Boge cartos for about $20 for 4 boxes, 5 in a box with free shipping .. that's a buck each and they last me an average of a week each .. 52 cartos in a year, $64.00 total over 15 months ..

My liquid consumption is maybe 40ml - 50ml per month .. I only buy on sale and average about $9.00 for a 30ml of my favorite stuff .. so, if my math is right, that about $15 a month, or $225.00 in 15 months ..

OK .. so my original guess was wrong .. I've spent about $399 over the last 15 months .. about $33.25 per month ..
