Hello everyone! :)

I'm new to vaping and the EFC. I was a pack-a-day analog smoker for 25 years. I received my SmokeTip starter kit nearly a week ago and gave up analogs the minute I started. My fiance has also quit analogs and started vaping after 20 years :thumb:

I researched a lot of different models before deciding on the KR808D-1. I have a disabled child at home, so the thought of refilling cartridges and worrying she may need me at that moment didn't appeal to me. My fiance just wants convenience so he can take his PV to work and on the go. We also both wanted something that looks and feels like the real thing. I think we have the right model for us, but perhaps not the right supplier.

As I said, we ordered a starter kit from SmokeTip, and we were very happy with the batteries and some of the cartos, but a few of the variety pack we tried out tasted a little 'off'. They also don't have a huge selection of batteries or accessories, and since we are trying to make this as interesting as possible, we would both like to find some variety.

I have been reading a lot of good reviews on Vapor4Life, and they seem like a great company. We are planning on placing a rather large order with them on Tuesday, but before we do I would just like to get a few more opinions from people who have used V4L's products :vapor:

Anyone want to add to the positive reviews I've read, or (gasp), add a negative one? Or do you have another company you can recommend (even if it's just for cartos)?

Thanks in advance :)

I've had good luck with V4L. I like them quite a bit. They've grown and changed a lot since I got started with them in January but I still don't have very many complaints. The customer service is still top notch and they always seem to have something going on to keep us coming back. I, personally, am not crazy about whatever they use as their base on the pre-filled liquids. Some of the flavors are a little "off"
I have a picky palette and what works for you will most probably differ from what works for me! That said, once I got the hang of filling the cartomisers myself everything is going fine. I have two daughters ages 6 and 14. I keep my liquids well out of their reach in a cabinet with a lock. Not because I think they'd get into them, but for basic safety reasons. We haven't had any problems yet.

Cartomiser wise: I Like Vapor Nine's blank "turbo" cartomisers for filling with my own juices.

Thanks for the reply :) I hope I can find some flavors I like for pre-filled. I wouldn't mind filling my own cartos, but I never know what may be happening with my daughter moment-to-moment. If she had a medical emergency while I was in the middle of filling cartos, that could be a problem :/

I bookmarked Vapor Nine just in case I decide to try filling my own someday.

In the meantime, do you have any pre-filled suggestions for flavors?

Thanks again :)

I just started using V4L and so far everything has been great. I haven't had any problems with anything I bought. Their shipping is great (usually get my stuff in just 2 days) and I hear their customer service is excellent.

In regard to your question about cartos to try, everyone's taste is different so you'll probably get lots of different answers to that. For me, I seem to go for the chocolatey or coffee flavors the most and then some of the fruity ones. Right now my faves are Cappucino, Peppermint Patty, Chocolate Macademia, and Carmel Mocha Frappucino.

Once you have enough posts, there is a V4L subforum under suppliers where you can get lots of help and opinions.

Thank you very much for responding :) I've peeked around the V4L forum a bit. I just wanted to hear from a few people 'outside' of the forum, sort of as a 'second opinion' if that makes sense.

The Cappuccino is one of the flavors we are planning to order first. I'm looking forward to trying it. I hope they come out with more sample packs. I'm one of those people that has to try everything or I'll feel like I missed something - lol. I'm just trying to narrow down a few choices for my first order :)

Sample packs are a great way to go...I really enjoy V4Ls menthols and I got started using them via the sample packs...I can personally vouch for great customer service on both their hardware and juices.

I have tried several other of their flavors -- coffees, tobaccos, chocolates, fruits and other "Sweet treats", most are not my cuppa tea -- but that's me, not them!

Refilling does not have to be a time-consuming project but like most things in vaping, there is a learning curve.

I, too, have younger children around and one is a special need's guy. All vaping supplies are locked up and out of reach and I usually do refilling on a catch as catch can basis -- sometimes all I can do is 2 cartos here and 2 there (sometimes I get lucky and get 10 done at a sitting)Regardless of how many at a time, whatever i have are ready to go and store very easily. I keep a small tackle box for the ongoing filling project -- that way if I am interrupted, I just throw everything in there and leave it until a better time.

Wishing you the best...
Pokey

Thanks Pokey :) I am a menthol person. Mmy analogs used to be Newports, then Marlboro Smooth. I'm planning on trying out the sample packs to see which one I like best. I'm also hoping to order Spearmint. Have you ever tried that flavor?

As for the refilling, I'm not worried my daughter will get into the supplies at all. She has epilepsy, so I just never know when she may have a seizure. If she happens to need me, then I need to be ready to respond quickly and possibly give her meds. I just don't want to have a bunch of supplies out and possibly have juice on my hands as I really wouldn't have time to wash :/

I'm glad to know that so many people have been saying positive things about V4L's customer service. They really do sound like a great company and I'm looking forward to ordering now :)

Thank you all for suggestions on flavors you like. If anyone has any others they'd like to suggest I try, please let me know. Trying to prioritize all the flavors will be a challenge - LOL!

Thank you all again! I look forward to seeing you around the threads :)

Haven't tried the spearmint ... but some people say that the Smilin' Menthol has spearmint undertones (along with a hint of coffee/chocolate). Smilin' is my favorite V4L menthol, Virginia menthol is number 2...

Can you get a box of disposeable gloves to use when filling??? That way if you had to jump to help your daughter you could peel them off FAST and wouldn't worry about getting nic juice on her...of course, the supplies would still be sitting out. Hmmm...some people use the cartos as a true disposeable one-time device. That was their original intent and a lot of other vendors sell them prefilled which would give you several more juice options. A little more expensive but very do-able. :)

Definitely keep us updated on how it goes with V4L! ^.^

I bought my kit from Premium, and have enough carts to last for a couple more weeks. I've got to say, the flavors I got are awesome, but I will shortly be ordering more juice and probably a few sample packs of other carts (looking for specific colors :p lol) - most likely from V4L because I've heard so many good things.

OH, and a fyi... Premium sells KR808D1 eciggs. I've heard great things about the batteries (haven't been using mine long enough to really say), and they have some really cool looking batteries w/ neat designs (which is why I went with them in the first place), and so far the flavors I've tried have been spot on. The downside, is that their cartridges seem rather pricey. After I order from V4L, maybe I'll post a comparison.

::shrug:: there's my 2 cents

jcdrgnfly, as an epileptic, and having been so since childhood, I can tell you that you CAN fill cartos and not worry about having enough juice on your hands to harm her. You can fill one carto at a time, if you want. Not sure what meds you would administer during a seizure, but I do understand having to get up quick and attend to her. If you WANT to, you can use juice and refill without worry, it's all in how one decides if convenience is worth the cost :)
In terms of flavors to try...I see you are a menthol user, and I have seen MANY MANY menthol smokers decide they like the non-menthol tobacco vapes, and non-menthols mokers like the menthol vapes. I would definitely suggest a menthol and non-menthol sampler...I really enjoyed the smilin menthol (I was a non-menthol smoker). It took me 4-6 weeks to figure out what I really liked for every day, and a lot of roller-coaster tastebud action. Be patient, and experiment (if you can afford to).

Best thing flavor wise is to try the sampler packs and then order something weird. I'm not much of a huge apple fan but i ordered a five pack of their caramel apple to try something different and it turned out good. Their coffee sampler pack is great. The caramel mocha frap is really good. So far the only sampler pack i haven't tried is the menthol one but there's people who have let me try the smilin' menthol and it's menthol with a hint of chocolate.

Also go with the plastic gloves in the beginning, refilling at first is an adventure and juice does tend to get on your hands till you get the hang of it.

V4L's clove is awesome, i need to get my hands on their juice.

I love my 808 but to be honest I would look around because you can find them cheaper on other sites. I bought mine at myvaporstore and got two batteries, a charger and a sample carto for 29.00. If you buy cartos they are cheeper also.
I do like V4L's juice and they ship really fast. I think the mega kit at V4L is a great deal for 89 dollars (I think that is the price) and everything you see there you will end up needing anyway.
I do like the cartos and I usually fill mine 4 to 5 times before I have to throw them out but I never let them dry out either. I fill them every night.

Pokey - I do have gloves around, so that might be a usable idea if I attempt to fill some myself. I guess the only way I can see if it will work for me is to go ahead and try it. Even if I don't end up refilling cartos and just toss them when I'm done, it still saves me a lot of money. Analogs run $8 a pack here, so tossing a $1.50 carto every day or so is still a huge difference ;)

jishk - Thank you for the input! Premium was another company I did some research on, and I do like their selection. They just seem a bit steeper on the the price scale. I like the customized batteries they have though, so I may be looking into buying a few things from them in the future as well :)

msroulette - Thanks for the reassurance :) That is my main fear - having nic juice on my hands while trying to attend to her. I would have to administer Diastat, which if she is still struggling during a seizure can be difficult enough without worrying I have toxic chemicals on my hands. Then again, me filling cartos is still better for her than her being exposed to second-hand smoke from analogs. I suppose I won't need to worry as much once I'm able to cut the nicotine out completely (which is my ultimate goal). I'm almost there already, so I think it can be done :) I will have to give Smilin Menthol a try. I think I've been slightly scared off the chocolate flavors. The chocolate carto we received from SmokeTip was one of the 'off' flavors I mentioned. I'm hoping V4L's chocolate is better. I've already been having the roller-coaster taste bud action, so I know what you mean ;) Thankfully anything I don't seem to like my guy seems to be ok with vaping, so nothing seems to be going to waste. And even if a flavor gets thrown out eventually, this is still MUCH cheaper than analogs!

LagSTeR - They have a Coffee Sampler!?!? :O I didn't see that when I was browsing flavors. I'll have to search for it. My fiance wants to try the clove. I'll let him know it's a favorite among a few people :) Thanks!

MsUnderstood - Myvaporstore.com does seem to have good prices on the kits. I think we are just looking for more variety in the batteries since we already have a basic white starter kit from SmokeTip and a spare black battery each. I do wish I'd seen them before I ordered the SmokeTip kit though. A weeks worth of research and I missed that site. Ah well, live and learn ;)

glowgirl - I smoked Newport 100's for years. I'll be sure to give the Cool ones a try. I did switch to Marlboro Smooth a couple years ago. I liked that they had a slightly less menthol and more minty flavor. V4L has so many menthol cartos to choose from, it will be tough to narrow it down. By the time I'm done trying them all I'll have forgotten what the first one's taste like - LOL! I've considered a PT. Right now we aren't having a problem with charging. My fiance has been enjoying his new toy a little too much and is constantly waiting for the batteries to get low so he can charge them up ;)

Thank you ALL very much for all the ideas! I'm feeling a lot more confident about all of this, and I'll be giving the carto filling a try in the near future. I think I'll wait until I find a flavor I know I'll be wanting a lot of before trying it though. I may have to make myself a chart to keep track of everything I've tried. It should keep me quite busy :)
