I just got a SB and I'm very happy and impressed. I thought I popped an atomizer the other day. I pressed the button and nothing happened. I switched atomizers and nothing.....I swapped batteries and both atties worked fine...Yippie !.

My question is does the SB have a built in shut off thingamabob or is it the batteries,.?

I'm assuming that the battery was charged and then you used it long enough to where it would be expected to be discharged or close to it? With the SB and a 18650 battery people generally get about a day. Some people get up to maybe 2 days? Most people use it all day, put their second battery in and put the first one on the charger overnight.

Li-Ion batteries can be destroyed by overcharging, discharging them too far, and discharging them too fast. Overcharging and discharging them too fast can result in rather dramatic failures. Discharging them too far (running them down too low) can result it them not taking a charge any more. If the batteries are "protected" then they have a circuit that disconnects them in any of those conditions. A 3.7v Li-Ion is fully charged at 4.2v and as you use it the voltage drops. Minimum voltage (ummm, errr, I forgot... let's say it's something like 3.5v or 3.6v) when the battery is depleted is 3.6v. When the battery gets down to 3.6v the circuit disconnects it. This would be completely independent of which mod it's used in.

Hmm..they never did that in my other mod...Thanks for the replies...
I see it was purchased via classifieds. It was originally purchased in November. Were you using the battery that was sold with it or one of your own seasoned batteries? If you find you only have issues with the one battery, toss that battery out. If it seems to happen with all batteries, send me a PM I will rebuild that one for you free of charge and renew your 6 month warranty. :toast:

Well aren't you the CSI.....LOL ...

Thanks a ton for the offer. I was just curious is all..The first time It was with the Blue 18650 that came with it.And it did it one other time with a pair of Tenergy 3.0 protected. So far it has been 2 days and not done it again....

I ordered a pair of 18650's and a charger I should have in today so I will do that you have suggested and just chuck the blue one.

A 510 will trip the Tenergy 3.0v from time to time. I would swap batteries top for bottom when I was using 6v to reset them. I got tired of the poor battery life and switched to 3.7v full time :). LOL I don't remeber having the blue 18650... Juice in the atty connector or adapter can cause a ground as well and trip batteries.

I have a SB and the only time I get nothing when pressing the button is

A/ I have changed the battery(s) are they are not sitting right and touching the contact properly (unscrew and screw it up again fixes it everytime)

** Usually its with the 2 x 3v's, to stop it happening sticking a slightly cut down business card around the RCR123A's tightens them up a bit and seems to centre them better and stops them wobbling and I never need to unscrew/rescrew**

B/ Or there is a slight amount of liquid sitting in the atty connector after putting on a fresh overfull cartomizer (unscrew cart, wipe it out with a tissue and fires everytime)

Apart from that the SB is an awesome unit that I have used for about 3 months now and you will not regret getting it for a second.
