What you cleaned off was the NOALOX treatment I applied to it. Next time it happens, flip the batteries over. I.E. swap the top battery in the bottom batterie's place. If you drip alot, the juice could have been building up in the atty connector, be sure to only clean the atty connector with a q-tip DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.

I thought I read somewhere that we needed to clean the inside of the atty connector w/a q-tip AND a little bit of alcohol... I've done it without the batteries in the SB, and let it dry out before use. What does the alcohol do?

Seems the alcohol has reacted with the insulator of the atty connection on some units. Just want to avoid that in the future is all. A q-tip will be fine by itself to clean it out.

*Update* Still having some issues but here is what I found. Out of my 3 sets of batteries I have found 1 set that will work with no *auto turn offs* like my others are seeming to do with my 510 attys. Have tried poping them back on the charger for a min like someone suggested but this does not seem to make a difference all but the 1 set still will keep making auto turn offs which make it impossible to use because sometimes it only stays on for a partial second-2 before it stops. The 1 set is working great and could keep the button pressed until i pop my atty (which im not going to try) :) I also have an adapter for the cartomizers SO I decided to give that a whirl with the batteries. All of the batteries work 100% with this. No auto turn off on any of the sets of batteries. So it is weird why i have one set that works 100% with the 510 but the other 2 sets don't but all sets work great for the cartomizers. SO I still can't tell if its a battery issue or an atty issue. Its just strange that only one set works with my 510 attys but they all work with the cartomizer.

Cartomizers have a higher resistance - 3.5 ohms like the 901 and 801 attys. 510 joye attys are only 2.5 ohm. That's why they pack such a punch into the small size. The knock-off (SLB?) 510 attys I've gotten are 3.5 ohm also.

So the cartomizers don't draw as much current and trip the protection circuit.

That must mean why my 901 attys last longer on 14500 battys than the 510 does?
