Did vaping help you quit smoking?

Oh Yeah!! Stopped smoking cigs the first day I got my Ego twist starter kit just over six months ago. I am another that had tried everything- cessation classes, wellbutrin, patches, lozenges, cold turkey, hypnosis, subliminal tapes- the whole nine yards... I think I find the way that I have managed to be cig free is to have committed to vaping NO MATTER WHAT. I have bought a bunch of vape gear- always have at least 2 or 3 options with me so I never find myself stuck without a charged battery, or no juice, or some other breakdown situation that could lead me to smoke a cig...I started to DIY my own juice within a couple of weeks of starting to vape, so I always have plenty of juice flavors in the cabinet to choose from...I have had a couple of cravings for cigs in the last six months- but the cravings were manageable and sort of like off in the distance...just something I was aware of. I realize now that my cravings were from me trying to tweak my nic level- too low nic (0-3mg for me) and I find myself chain vaping and having a cig craving. Too much nic (anything over 8mg) and I find myself unable to sleep and my blood pressure going wack (I monitor BP because I have hypertension)...so NO MATTER WHAT I have committed to being smoke free. It's a choice.

I started vaping with Blus a couple years ago but it didn't take. I think I was still too into the analogs for whatever reason. Recently I got my habit down to two cigs a day and from there I was able to transition to vape-only after about a week of using both. For the last week I have been cigarette free. Now I still have some Blus for when I'm out on the town but at home I'm using a EVOD2 I'm already looking for an upgrade and can see how this can become an all-consuming hobby. Unfortunately I have actually regressed in terms of my nicotine intake.. like I said I was down to two cigs a day but now I'm vaping almost constantly. I guess it's an improvement but haven't noticed any better lung capacity or taste returning or anything postive yet.. time will tell.

Yep, sure did. It's been over a year without a cig. I chain vaped at first (understandable) but when I found WTA (whole tobacco Alkoloids) it sure helped scratch that itch and stop the cravings. I smoked for 40 years! I could never have imagined wanting to quit. A few words from my surgeon regarding recovery rates in smokers vs. Non-smokers opened up a window for willingness. Between technology and this Forum, I hope to be smoke-free for the rest of my life.

I started on cigalikes which helped reduce usage but didn't help me quit. Once I moved on to vaping I enjoyed it so much more that I utterly couldn't (and still can't) stand analogs anymore. Now I have a hard time being in smoky bars for long periods of time. Had a few analogs along the way when I didn't have a vape handy and they just tasted horrible and I felt like I could feel all the chemicals going into my system. Vaping has undoubtedly got me off analogs.

I still smoked for a bit after getting my first vape. Turned out I was just using mediocre luqid. I also didn't really know the ins and outs of priming cartos, taking care of my gear, etc. That all changed though once I got my first good taste of RY4. (PV4 by Prime Vaping. Currently enjoying Nectar by Neckbeard.) I still enjoy the fruity flavors, though, when they're done right.

I didn't actually mean to quit, but I smoked the last cig I had on the way into the store and never bought any more. I had been wanting to try vaping, but was seriously skeptical that it would work as well as it did. It's been a week, and I've had little desire to smoke another. I'm already noticing improved sense of smell and the black rings under my eyes are diminished. I haven't noticed any of the bad effects of quitting, like I did when I went cold turkey. I love exploring the different flavors, which supersedes any desire for tobacco, and many of them go well with my main hobby -- Chinese tea.

i've already posted to this thread but just wanted to say that last week i celebrated a full year being tobacco free. since my starter kit arrived last june i've never looked back. as for nicotine i started at 24mg, stepped down to 18mg, but leveled off at 12mg for the past few months. i don't have any plans to go all the way down to 0mg but the cool thing about vaping is that the option is always there if i ever want to. also gotta credit this site for providing a community that's helped keep me interested in learning more about the vaping lifestyle and all the options that comes along with it. w00t!

There is nothing wrong with going down to lower nic and staying there. My dad is 70 years old and has shown early signs of Alzheimer's disease,I got him to quit smoking years ago and vape with me. There have been positive findings with Nicotine helping people with this disease so I want my Dad to stay on Nic,what has he got to lose?

Congrats on a year smoke free. I just celebrated 9 months on June 30th. Without my PV and this forum it would not have been possible. I realize everyone's path is their own, and in my case I have been tobacco free since the day after I started vaping. Started at 18mg, dropped to 12mg after about 3 or 4 months and now am at 9mg (I mix 12mg & 6mg). So far, so good. If I get to zero nic, great, but if not, no big deal. I was encouraged and reminded by folks here that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Again, without this forum and the friendly, encouraging, supportive, non-judgemental people here in ECF, I am sure my journey would have been very different (and not in a good way).

Namaste and keep the vape.

Hi everybody! I'm new here, been checking the forum for a while but i'm not that much of a talker :) This is my first reply. Well, i started vaping 4 months ago and i believe i smoked 3 cigs since. Only to remind me how bad those really taste. I'm trully sure that if i stop vaping i will not go back to smoke. The smell and taste is really disgusting.

Welcome to ECF lol, I have a cig on occasions. Don't really like them. Glad vaping is working out for you
