Just started vaping this week. And I gotta say it's not going good for me yet. I smoked Doral ultra lights. About two packs a day. After a ton of research and waiting for Blu, I cancelled the blu and got a 510. If this dry kick in my throat is what you guys are calling throat hit, you can keep that BS. I can't even inhale, and I've tried a bunch of inhale techniques. Small hits, letting some vapor trickle out before inhale, and it doesn't matter. I cough my ... off. I'm used to throat hits with Mary Jane, but this is too dry. It's like breathing in a big hit of dust. My stuff is from electronicstix. Got the Grape 18mg, and Camel 11mg. Camel is terrible, and Grape is okay tasting, but I want this "throat hit gone, so I can inhale. I'm thinking it's the PG, so please tell me there's a way to squash this dryness so I can actually use this thing. Thanks all.

I had some trouble also, but found inhaling was much easier after my lungs cleaned out the gunk from smoking tobacco. I've let a few of my "smoker" friends try my PV, every one thought it was too harsh and hard on their lungs. I'd give it more time. Perhaps keep some water handy, take small sips in between vaping. Maybe order a bottle of VG based liquid to try, see if it helps?

Well, I appreciate you're guys' advice, but it's not my lungs, it's my throat. I sure don't want to try no nic juice, as I need the nic to get off cigs. I have some ECOpure coming, so I hope that it better. I hear alot about cutting with VG you can get from the store, but that sounds like a pain. Would it be possible that a drip of VG onto the atomiser will be enough to smooth it, or should you only drip the e-liquid on the atomiser and put the VG in the cart. I really don't want to become a bio-chemist. The easier this is the more likely I'll keep it up.

Whether PG or VG, the end result is the same. It's still glycol. Vg will add more sweetness to the flavor. But, I honestly haven't noticed a difference in smoothness of vapor from PG to VG.

Adding more VG/PG will smooth out the throat hit, buy reducing the nicotine content. The dryness that you experience is most likely from the glycerin. This is a common result experienced by many, such as I. It does eventually go away, or becomes tolerated.

I put up with PG and VG for about 2-3 weeks (with a bottle of water in hand) before not noticing dryness at all. I still get the harsh throat hit (it's like a citrus bite, not dryness) and this is from the nicotine (but I use 36mg of nic), and film on my toungue that I have to brush all the time.

Give it time. As I said, your not the only one to go through this. Hang in there.

this may also not be the solution for you. you dont sound like someone who will bear any burden, climb any mountain to replace your smoking habit.

if it sounds to you like it is too much work, which it does based on your text, i would look to another solution. the technology/industry probably just isnt there where you need them to be. ecigs are a wonderful invention, but they are still fledgling and need to mature and evolve. in short order, innovation will yield a design that is lower maintainance than they are now. i feel you would just be frustrated and embittered by your early experience with PVs. give it a little time. happiness will ensue.

Cut your juice with VG, that will for sure smooth it out for you. You can get it at walmart made by humco or get it online from www.harvesthealth.com , look for NOW foods vegetable glycerine 16oz pure for $5.39 plus shipping, prob cost you another five to ship but this big ... bottle will last forever. Use high mg juice and cut it 50/50, smooth as hell. The ecopure is pretty smooth but if that doesnt help try the VG.

:lol::lol: I had a similar introduction to the 510>>>>now i love it, and somehow no longer burn the cart polys that are giving you that burn/taste more so than the primer i believe. Try dripping until you get the inhale for this unit...then try the carts again later.Remove the cartridge filler, drip 2-3 drops as directly onto the wire mesh as possible, re-insert filler-less cartridge cap and draw slow and short to begin then adapt. I get more flavor from the 510 by exhaling a good potion through the nostrils.

Good luck

First make sure you atimizer is clean and don't drip directly on the atimizer, top off the cartridges instead. A cartridge with less liquid will deliver it slower than a full cartidge or direct dripping. The way I leared was 18mg is regular. 11mg is light. 8mg is ultra light. But... It depends who you ask.

And you have to give the atimizer a chance to break in. I was a little scare of the 501 my first day. The throat hit was a monster. Of course I was still using the 18mg carts that came with it (I tend to vape in the 11-12mg range). I didn't know how I was going to handle the throat hit. After a day or two it settle down. Don't give up.

P.S. There's a great video on YouTube called "DSE 901 E-CIG USER TIPS AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE" which covers all the basics. A must watch for beginners. Seeing how to clean, maintain, drip, and top off helped me more than reading about it.

It's really easy.. Get some VG, simply pour some into your liquid, shake, check if you can tolerate it, if not, add a little more. keep doing so until you're happy.

Or, 25% (what I do)

Update: I got my ECOpure today, and it is exactly what I was hoping. Not much flavor though, but I get get a cloud without hurting the throat. I am getting a little light-headed now. But, for me, this is now working for me. Thanks for all of the advice. I WILL quit smoking cigarettes! By the beard of Zeus!

Not sure which flavor you got but IMO, the Rich is the way to go. If thats what you got then give your taste buds some time. The flavor will come.

Rob
Yep... give your tastebuds some time to adjust... the flavour is there. (I've now tried all of the Ecopure range. I like them all at different times, but 'Rich' is my favourite and my staple)

Hi all!

First post....

That wicked throat hit/burn *could* be primer. I was good to go with my 510 outta the box but my 401 attys were soaked with primer. It was awful! I tasted it and felt it (mega-burn. YUCK!) on every hit for two days!

Try washing out your attys in some rubbing alcohol, rinsing well with water, and dry them completely. Drip some juice on the wisk (maybe one or two drops) pop on a cart, and give it a try.

A clean atty, free from primer, can make a world of difference for you.

Good luck!

Wisk= Wick: the finely braided thingy you see when you look down into your 510 atomizer.
