well it's october 1st! the thing that was the hardest thing to wrap my head around was not buying the nasty things! So, for me at work i still have to go out with the smokers, b/c gee we all know that helps us quit  The other thing that has kept me off was finding a good tobaccoish flavor, right now i am vaping honey curred tobacco mixed with waffles. Good luck! oh and i haven't had any mood swings b/c i am still getting my nic!

Hi VVG. I stopped smoking four days ago using the E-Cigg. I too, had fears just as you are. I'm 54 and have been smoking since I was 17. I have tried everything to quit patches, gum, pill, nose spray and nothing I mean nothing ever helped me to quit until now. I have not even wanted to smoke a cigarette in the four days of using my new E-Cigg. I've started off with 24mg. I bought three e-liquids (cotton candy, pina colada and kahlua) If I can quit anyone can. I wish you lot's of luck and I know you can do this.

VVGirl - I can definitely relate. I was a 2 PAD smoker and been smoking for 20 years. I'm officially a week now smokeless and made it through the part I was dreading the most...the WEEKEND! I even took part in the consumption of some adult beverages and tossed a bunch of meat on the grill (2 things that usually require that I chain smoking at least a pack of analogs as, you know, part of the ritual). Anyway, I can't say I wasn't tempted to bum from my analog smoking friends, but I held strong. And you know what...I didn't turn into a monster or anything. Whenever I felt the urge, I just really hit my PV hard. In a way, it was a lot of fun...talking about my new PV and vaping with my friends really took my mind off the stinkies.

I have to say, that the last week has had it's moments...and I've definitely been chain vaping...but whatever it takes right? I can tell you on the BIG plus side...I'm already feeling better than I have in years. It's so worth it, and you can do it.

Wow! Thank you all so much for the support and advice. You are all right about the pressure, but as many of you know, previous attempts with NRT have been horrible, and it's stressful to walk into that again. Today is the day and amazingly, I'm doing great! I will post more detail in another thread, but it's great to know that I've got so many experts on my side.

This is not a previous attempt. This is not a NRT... this is a complete replacement for the entire habit. Well, aside from that lighter and ash flicking thing. Don't worry about quitting smoking right now. Worry about finding the right vape for you. Don't worry so much that you don't buy anything. Figure out what size unit and features appeal to you, get one, and start vaping. Continue smoking when you HAVE to.... by the time you find your favorite juices, nic level, and delivery method, you won't WANT a cigarette anymore. Don't worry about asking questions and venting frustrations or experiences...... someone on this board has been through exactly what you're experiencing and all of us have had our own frustrations.

Congratulations and welcome...... and we all look forward to having you along on this journey.

I agree Robino, the forums have helped me so much to better understand all about E-Ciggs. And the support here is just amazing. My starter kit I bought four days ago is the EGO-Q. I was wondering what kind do you use if you don't mind me asking. I know just from reading there are so many different kinds of E-Ciggs to choose from.

I got the eGo C kit plus 1 - 650 eGo Twist and 1 - 1000 Twist. I just ordered the Vision Vivi Nova because I'm tired of constantly putting my liquid in the cartridges. I'm hoping that will be my last hardware purchase.... at least for a couple of months

Well as others have expressed, I didn't start vaping to quit smoking. I never really wanted to quit. I enjoyed smoking, it didn't seem to affect me that much as far as I noticed (I am starting to realize how wrong I was on this one), I made my own smokes using tubes an injector machine and Natural American Spirit tobacco (not pipe tobacco which is way cheaper) which only cost about $2 a pack, etc. My neighbors started vaping after finding a brand new start-up store in our area which was the first of its kind around here. I tried a few puffs on theirs and liked it so I went down to the store to try their vapor bar and loved several of their flavors and ended up buying a couple batteries, some cartomizers and a few bottles of juice. The original setup didn't get me to quit, but I did cut way back. I ended up thinking that if I got a VV mod that I could probably quit smokes. Went back to the store and bought a Lambo (YJ LT) it came with a stardust and I loved it. I ended up looking into clearomizers more and bought a Vivi Nova that really rocked my world. Come to find out it was more of the cartomizer taste I couldn't stand than the device. LT is already dead after 4 weeks due to a juice spill, ordered a Provari. I decided that I know I will stick with this and I don't have the money to buy new equipment all the time so I will buy something that I know will last....a Provari.

Only two regrets....that I bought a LT instead of a Provari the first time around and that my sense of smell is coming back big time while I am in the medical field (changing adult diapers is even less fun than before, LOL) Thank goodness for vaping!!!

I didn't want to quit smoking I was also afraid to quit but I found that it was easy with e-cigs. I didn't have any mood swings I did have to fight the urge to smoke for the first week especially during stress times but I just vaped my brains out and it would pass. You can do it we are all rooting for you :)

It is quite understandable to be apprehensive about quitting. Even with an ECig it is tough. For me it took a few weeks to be completely smoke free. A good starter kit helped tremendously. I sit today a month cigarette free and loving it. I go out with my smoking friends at break. I vape, they smoke. I've found my willpower with the help of my trusty PV and juice I love. I still occasionally crave the chemicals in cigarettes but vape them blissfully away. I never really wanted to quit. This was far easier than I expected. I would shy away from the cigalikes and find something that will have better battery life and juice capacity.

Good luck. You've found a wealth of knowledge here and many people who've been in your shoes who will help you any way they can. Welcome to the ECF family.

When I first started vaping, I didn't necessarily expect to quit smoking. I had only tried to quit once before, and it had only lasted a few hours. I didn't try all the different methods. That one try was enough to give me the information I needed to already know that they wouldn't work anyway.

So, I didn't have high hopes for e-cigs either.

I just figured I'ld give it a try and see if it would, at least, help me cut back whenever it was important (like before a job interview) and maybe even keep me from having to go outside to smoke while I was at home. For me, it was only about the smell that kept me from smoking inside and that let people know that I was a smoker.

I got my kit and practiced on it for a couple of days. On the third day, I only had one cigarette right before bed that night. It's been one and a half years since that day. I've never had an urge for a cigarette in that time. But, I have missed the ease and simplicity of smoking. Just light the end and done. I used to miss that, but just now realized that I don't even miss that any more!

Anyway, to the reason for my post - finally.

I just wanted to say that I very likely wouldn't have quit if I had been out of cigarettes and didn't have anything to fall back on, if I felt like I HAD to do it cold-turkey. I had several packs of cigarettes laying around when I started vaping. After a few months, I gave them away.

Once you find a good kit to begin with and a good juice to go with it you will have no problems. The only thing you will say is I wish I had done this sooner. It takes a bit of time searching but you will be rewarded 10 times over.

I agree with completely you can do it!
