This may be a newbie question but the answer has not been obvious to me yet and I still consider myself a newbie. When I do a search for a specific word, I get links to the first page of threads that are sometimes thousands of pages long. How do I go right to the page that contains my specific search word? I surely missed something.

You missed the Meaning of the Search. It's there to illustrate for our edification and reflection the grand principle of Ample Opportunity for Improvement.

Google is there to take care of the mundane function of looking stuff up.

Try doing an "Advanced Search" and search "Posts" instead of "Titles".

It works great if the thread only has a couple of posts, but for the ones with a lot of pages, that will still take you to page 1 of the thread.

The google search either the one here, or just putting the search terms in google, will take you to the page with the stuff you want a lot more of the time!

Depending on what your searching for- "Posts" gives too many hits.

For example if your looking for Backwoods Brew, if you put it in posts, you'll get a thousand hits because tons of thread might mention BWB.

Yeah, sometimes is not getting information it's getting too much.

I try to use two or three word phrases to limit the amount of search hits I get. If you type in "BWB" your going to get a boat load of results. But "BWB Reviews" or "BWB Recipes" returns perhaps more relevent results.
