I am a 44 year smoker, the last ten years spent using American Spirit RYO organic, I had the discipline to only smoke when I had the time to sit and roll a smoke. I only smoked about ten cigarettes a day but AS are very strong and were probably equal to a pack a day of regulars, only without the chemicals so switching to and using a vapor system was easier than it would be for most since I don't have all the chemicals to withdraw from that are normally associated with non organics. Non the less, I was still concerned with the carcinogenic problems associated with burning tobacco and I was beginning to present the first symptoms of COPD.
I found this forum in a search for ecigarette products and was amazed at the level of knowledge and support offered, I armed myself with a few key points and found a vapor shop that we are lucky enough to have in our area, (I say Vapor Shop because they don't sell ecigarettes, they specialize in vapor delivery systems).
I explained to the very helpful people there just exactly what I wanted from a vapor product and also explained I wanted a start out with a set up that I would be satisfied with all the way, not having to upgrade to other units later and not being particularly interested in modifying or fiddling with equipment.
The Staff showed me several good options after asking many questions about my smoking habit, I finally settled on the eCab system by joyetech, it did require replacing parts occasionally, but considering it had the vapor flow and ease of use I required seems much less expensive in the long run than buying several different units trying to get what I was looking for.
The Staff also mixes their own juice and I spent an enjoyable hour or two trying out various flavors and chose to go with the maximum nicotine level to insure my not backsliding. I also bought a lanyard so I didn't have to worry about looking for my vaporizor, it was like having a pacifier hung around my neck, every time I feel the need, I just reach out and there it is!
It's only been 24 hours but this is the longest I have gone without a cigarette in many decades. I don't crave cigarettes, I crave my wonderfully flavored vapor. I made sure I read how to properly smoke the vapor on this forum and I can honestly say I don't miss smoking at all, I am still getting my nicotine and am actually in a good mood, instead of being depressed as I always have been after quitting by Hypnosis, patches, gum and mind altering drugs, (I actually had my first chuckle of the morning when I read about someone who wrote the drugs were "suicide" drugs, they weren't kidding).
Perhaps the changeover has been easier for me because I was a disciplined organic tobacco smoker, but honestly I do feel the credit for my immediate assimilation into the vapor world was due to this marvelous forum and all of the incredibly helpful people who have shared their experience. With your advice I became and informed consumer who went to the right people and asked the right questions.
I have read many things on this forums, good, bad and sometimes funny and snarky, but for the most part, I would like you all just to take a moment and consider all of us Noob posters and think for a moment that even though many of us ask silly questions that have been answered before somewhere else, you always take the time to answer and try to lead us on a better path that will lead to a successful conclusion. You are saving lives. Thank you.
PS, my Avatar in my Cat BC, as you can see, she loves her bath and is happy she doesn't have to jump down from my lap when I light up one of those filthy weeds anymore.
