Although I don't vape around kids this is the latest study showing little or no danger in regards to second hand vapor:
"The study has now been completed, peer reviewed and accepted for the 2012 meeting of SRNT in Helsinki. The experiment concludes that within the limits of the observed parameters, has underlined that passive vapor does not produce detectable amounts of toxic and carcinogenic substances in the air of an enclosed space."

Personally, regardless of what research may or may not indicate, I do not vape indoors around non vapers. I definitely do not vape around children. My 5 year old grandson does not know that I had smoked. Likewise, he will most likely never see me vape.

I am the rare smoker/ex-smoker in my immediate circle of family and friends. They are all quite pleased that I have taken up vaping in lieu of smoking. Out of respect, they do not question the merits of vaping. Knowing me, they trust that I have made the best decision. As such, I respect their space while indoors and do not vape around them. Essentially, with some slight differences, I vape as I had smoked.

It's funny because when I would go over friends houses, I would go outside to vape. They all asked me why I was going outside. I told them that I didn't want to assume that they were ok with me doing it in the house.

I won't ask if it's ok, because I don't want them to think they have to say yes. So I go outside until they say otherwise.

It's good to be respectful in how we vape. But let's don't go too far and give the uninformed the perception that vaping is as dangerous as smoking.

Many of us vape openly in most places but do so repsectfully but do NOT vape in smoking sections. Educating the uninformed that exhaled vapor is safe but not blowing huge plumbs of vapor in other's face is a good idea.

That's funny, I just realized that. Not far at all. There are times for work I have to go east, but usually only as far as Rome. Maybe a little detour would be in order.

I'll keep that in mind.

This is the conundrum we face. While I don't want to both figuratively and literally blow vapor in anyone's face, there comes a point where our rights are being infringed upon. It appears that second hand vapor is not harmful and any residual smell is certainly a lot less annoying than the overwhelming perfume odors that I often have to put up with at work. So why not vape indoors? I try to keep it low profile, but that is starting to seem like a cop-out.

I do think it's wise to avoid vaping around children. I'd rather not give them any reason to take up the nicotine habit in any form or risk any health effects that may be still unknown.

I still try to vape in places where smoking is "allowed" but I do vape in my house. I will not vape in someone elses house unless they say its ok (and I will not ask, I'll go outside and hang out with the smokers). This eases my mind still hanging outside with the smokers cause I still get the feeling like I'm smoking and chit chatting with friends as they still smoke. I wish I didnt have to smell their second hand though LOL

We are in Amsterdam....about 25 minutes from Saratoga Springs.

(its less then 2 hours from Rome)

I'll vape outside but at least 20 feet away from smokers.

Those who want vaping banned simply because it looks similar to smoking, love this mind-set. They know that if enough vapers believe vaping is as bad as smoking and act like it is regardless of their reasoning in doing so, they will have a much easier time convincing the general public that vaping is dangerous and should be banned/severely restricted.

Vape openly but respectfully.

I didnt say I was a closet vaper. I vape very openly. BUT when I'm in someone elses house I have respect enough to walk outside unless they state its ok to vape inside (or when there asking me how it works I'll break it out and show them inside) But when I'm at a work place etc. I will continue to vape outside with the smokers. I'm not going to HR having to explain my situation. I will vape in "stealth" mode while walking through the mall, theaters etc.. But I'm not blowing clouds I hold it in till nothing else comes out.

I feel that explaining to people the harm reduction and better values of vaping to cigarettes is better and will stick in their heads more then just vaping publicly. someone sees you vaping dosnt mean there going to say oh hey thats safer then cigarettes. Take the time and explain what it is how it works etc. Explaining how just cause they see "smoke like" clouds dosnt mean its smoke will also have a much better impact on their mindset then just letting them guess what your doing.

Guess what I'm trying to say is I dont go outside cause I think vaping is bad as cigarettes. I go outside in respect to other peoples property. & to hang out with other smokers. I could very easily go in the bathroom and vape but when 99% of your friends are outside smoking who wants to sit on the couch by theirself!

You stated you would not EVEN ask if you could vape, which is what I found troubling. I think we should take every reasonable opportunity to educate the uninformed so the accurate perception of vaping is reinforced. By vaping openly in courthouses, malls, office buildings, etc, I have been able to educate more non-smokers about vaping and why is is not harmful to those near by, and does not stink or leave a lasting bad oder. It's been a win-win for vapers and non-smokers as many of them have only heard what the ANTZ's say about vaping. This way they learn first hand.

I'm not going to ask in someone elses house. If they offer me to vape in the house (if vaping was brought up etc..) then yea I will vape in the house as I do in my own. (I'm talking people other then family/close friends) now if that person in smoking in the house I generally will not ask and just start vaping. Like I said family and close friends I generally dont even have to ask they dont mind cause they already know.

I don't have to ask when I am in other people's houses. I just pull out my Vamo or Darwin and hold it. They always ask what it is, which is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate and educate. After that, they have no issue and I've have made one more convert to our cause.

I haven't vaped at all except for my first Vapur e-cig yesterday. However, I do agree that i wouldn't vape in anyone's house until given permission. I'm still debating wether to vape around my kids or when there are children in close proximity.
On one hand, i'd rather have my kids see me vaping than smoking a cig. But i don't want them to think it's a toy either.
On the other hand, if i don't let them see me vaping or smoking, they might pick up a cig when they get older anyway.
I wish there was a handbook on raising children. So torn!

I agree with most of what you say, but some juices can and will leave bad and/or lingering odors - some Halo juices are the first to come to mind. ;)

I try to vape only pleasant smelling juices when I'm at work or a non-vapers house. :)

From what I understand, second-hand vapor is much safer than air fresheners or scented candles.
