The "conspiracy" if that is the label you are comfortable with is REVENUE. Demonize, legislate, tax, control and place fines. Time tested proven method with an extremely high success rate.

The way people latch on to and parrot bad science putting it mildly, repeat the lies and defend the governments complicities, ignore certain individuals greed and self promotion think Al Gore without a thought to the general wellbeing of the country makes me think of Stockholm syndrome..

Fools and posers seem to be in the majority and easily steered to the next target.

Does it make you feel better when you come back with smug responses like that? That's kind of sad. Your first line would have been sufficient to make your point. But no, you had to make sure to follow up with some jerky comment about parroting and stockholm syndrome. Come on man.

I have no doubt my government lies to me. In fact I doubt everything it says to me. That doesn't mean what is said is inherently wrong, even if the facts are used for political gain.

But it's not the government that tells me smoking is bad for me. Basic biology and personal experience was enough.

And common sense tells me that if I inhale smoke, first hand or secondhand, it is bad for me.

I feel the same way about Big Pharma and Big Government.
But it took a lot of learning to come to the conclusion that they are all doing the same thing.

And then it was an easy step to understand that EVERYONE does the same thing, all day long.
Because really, it's just human nature.

Walmart
Cox Comm
Verizon
Google
Apple
Kroger
Direct Tv
Energy
Bell Telephone prior to the break up
BP Oil

etc......................................
Auto Makers - Heck look at Honda now... faulty airbag but they don't want to do a full recall because it only happens in states with warmer weather? Are you kidding me? Good thing I live in Ohio, now I won't get shrapnel though me if I happen to wreck in my Pilot.

Every large company does it.

I would say, and will openly admit I am guessing, that despite what you are claiming you were offended.

That's just the problem, your using "common sense", not science. Anyone that doesn't like big business? So then stop using your computer and go live in a mud hut for all we care. don't like big pharma? Life expectancy is higher than ever.

Common sense tells you environmental tobacco smoke is harmful? The chemical structure of the smoke entering the air does not change now because your common sense says so? Interesting

Common sense tells me that ANY smoke entering my environment is harmful. How harmful, that's what is debatable.

No, and I never said it did. I'm not making scientific claims or trying to change your mind.

Do you need scientific evidence your stove is hot to not touch it, or do you trust your common sense?

Look I don't live in a bubble. I go to bars, hang out with smokers, and I wake up every morning just the same. But I don't believe for a second that the secondhand smoke I'm inhaling is good for me. Again, how not good for me is what is debatable.

Common sense tells me that smoke in my environment is as harmful as subjecting myself to a room filled with the sounds of country music when I very often find that music to be annoying and would rather not have it pumped into my ears. If they would just ban this from all public places, especially bars, I'm sure the world would be a much better place.

Me too! I don't believe for a second that listening to country music is good for me.

Condo I live in is trying to ban all smoking, both inside your own walls and outside because other units might get a whiff of it. Personally, I feel that if you purchased your home before this comes to pass, they should all take a flying leap and you can continue to smoke within your (very expensive) home.

Actually, I have a problem with the smell of the chief complainer's doodoo - wonder if I can propose that she use a portakabin outside every time she needs to "go"?
